Wow, I can't believe it's October already, I think walking past Horace Mann. These past couple months have been nothing but... Normal. Ever since that weird dream I had, the ghost thing in Faust Hall, and Lucinda. Nothing has been out of the ordinary. Just like my life has always been, I nod to myself. I walk on the side walk listening to the leaves crunch under my feet as I go along. I look around and smile when I see fellow students jumping into a newly raked leaf piles. I stop for a second to watch them re rake the pile and witness another body vanish in a swirl of autumn colors.

That looks like fun, I smile as I inch closer to the group. Too bad you have class, I hear my self-conscience nag. I take my phone out and look the time. 10:55. Ugh, I don't wanna go to Algebra I groan internally. I slum way up the stairs of the science hall taking all the time in the world to enter the building even though I have none.

I walk down to the end of the hall and walk into the computer lab. I plop down in my seat and log into the computer then rest my head against my hand. Can I get an A in this class for my birthday? That would the best birthday gift ever! I laugh then wave away my wishful thinking and take my phone once more. Wow, I'm 19, I think as I stare down at the date. Oct.6, 2014. I purse my lips to the side. Eh, doesn't feel much different than 18, I shrug silencing my phone for class just as a text form Justin pops up. Our professor walk in and I quickly unlock my phone to look at the message.

Justin:

Happy Birthday babe!

I smile.

Me:

Thanks Justin :*

Justin:

I got a surprise for you

I perk up.

Me:

What is it??

"Okay guy," I hear the teacher say behind me making me turn to face her. "If you haven't finished the section you were on Friday go head and wrap that up. Then get started on the next one."

Ugh, I groan turning back to my phone.

Justin:

Well if I told you it wouldn't be a surprise lol

Me:

Yeah exactly lol

I shake my head smiling and throw my phone in my backpack taking out my calculator in exchange.

I click on the category I was working on Friday from the list of subjects. The last question I was on loads and I cock my head to the side in question.

Find the sum of the polynomials:

2p3 + q3 - 14pq - 2q and -p3 - 10q3 + 9p2q + 2pq- 12p+ 12q -18

What the fuck am I looking at? I scrunch my eyebrows and roll my eyes. Ugh, if math was a person I'd punch them in the face.

After U.S. Government, I finally meet up with Lucinda for lunch.

"Happy birthday by the way!" Lucinda says as we sit down by some of the band kids towards the back of the cafeteria.

"Thank you," I smile at her. Over the past couple months, I warmed up to Lucinda. Trusting her a little more everyday. I found it easier to talk her about things I've never been comfortable talking about even to my closest family members.
