Lucinda
I have my hand reached out to James looking at him. He really wants to change though? Maybe I shouldn't let him go on this path because if he falters now... No, that look in his eye says he wants to do it. I only guide, not decide.
That moment James reaches for my hand.
We teleport to the training field. He looks around and looks at me weirdly. I smile at him and pick up a rock.
I put the rock in the center of my palm and hold it out slightly. "Get the rock from me." I say simply.
James stares at me for a minute. Then with his reflex training, tries to grab the rock. I pull my hand away and he misses.
James furrows his brow. "How the hell is this supposed to help me." He says lunging at me and trying to push me off balance. Doesn't work. I use my other hand to flip him and make him land on the ground face first.
"A thief is quick. A thief is sneaky. A thief is smart." I say smiling down at him. Then holding out his wallet with the hand I flipped him with.
James rolls over and sits up fast patting at his side pockets. "How?" Is all he can say before I toss his wallet into his lap.
"James, a thief has to be fast, you have to see your target and focus on it and everything around you. Just like in a real fight. You think of everything. You know your target." I say taking a few steps back and leaning against a tree. "You always keep your wallet in the left hip pocket, folded to the side making it an easy picking." I say staring at him. "Why you choose the human wallets is beyond me. They are really easy to steal and steal out of." I say holding up his money.
He quickly opens up his wallet and looks at me flabbergasted. I cock my head to the side and extend my arm out to give him back the money. James stands up and takes the bills back, and looks side ways away from me.
"Questioning if you have the guts to be a thief? Or doubting yourself as a person who can learn?" I ask.
James looks up at me with a serious look. "I want to learn this and I know I can it's just-"
I cut him off. "It's just nothing, there is no half assing this." I pause for a moment and soften my voice. "James, this is your path and I just want to make sure you choose the one you can live with. I will help you no matter which path you choose but it's my job to keep you on the one you choose." He goes to say something but I raise my hand. "No, I know I keep saying this but-" I pause for a moment and look away. "I will never let you become what I was... Alright?" I say looking back at him.
James smiles at me. "I know Lucy, thanks for caring. But this is what I want." He says softly back at me.
I smile back wickedly. "Then come at me bro." I say as I swift kick his legs from under him.
James actually dodges enough to stumble backwards. The moment he catches his footing he charges at me and almost, almost grabs the rock. But not before I throw the it up and have it land back in my hand. I lay my hand out flat and flick the rock, sending it towards him.
He gasped when it hits him square in the forehead and bounces back into my hand.
James lands on his ass and I start laughing. "I think you missed." To which he just groans.
After about three hours of this, I start yawning. "I think it's time to stop." I say looking at the sweaty and tired keylesio before me.
"Oh, thank goodness." He says collapsing onto the ground.
I smile down at him. "Being a thief isn't easy. Rest up. I will be going on a mission in three hours and I want you to come." I say walking off.
I take the path that leads from the tree. "Well now I have to make up a mission or find one." I say looking around. "Oh well, kid needs to see it before I let him train anymore." Although I wonder why he has this sudden urge to steal.. Or is it kill?
