Why me?

Heading into town

As I walk through the woods I can see the hexagon shaped rocks that line the town. When I get closer, I notice that I'm on top of the mine so I climb down and walk the rest of the way since it was a short distance. I wipe myself off and made sure I didn't drop and of my money before heading down to the trading posts.

After buying a neckless for mother, a steel dagger for Devin, and a ring for papa, I headed for the inn. Once inside I noticed people staring at me and I immediately regret not bringing my hood to cover my ears. However someone in the corner was the only one with their helmet on and they caught my eye because of it. I smile at the people and head downstairs to the inn keeper. "can I help you?" he asked kind of coldly "may I be able to get some spiced wine if you have any?" I ask very politely. After a few minutes of searching around he brings me two bottles of spiced wine "60 septums". I handed him the money and started for the door, noticing more glances in my direction but I was getting used to it already. I went up stares to head out the door but someone stopped me. It was an orc and he had someone following him and they didn't look happy. "aren't you Coles daughter?" he asked sternly, expecting an answer "who's asking?" I say it coldly and look up like I have power over him, this did not make him happy. "Answer me!" he half yelled, I rolled my eyes "yup, sure am, now what do you want?" I'm getting mad by now and I snap at him "you little brat! I'm your elder and you will respect me if you like it or not!" he was furious by now but it didn't affect me in the slightest. next thing I know the person from the corner spoke up and looked at up at the guy. "do you really have nothing better to do than pick on kids and take money from people?" he said with a mater of faculty. "watch it!" he yelled back and that gave me enough time to slip out the door.

I walked fast and headed home. The sun was starting to set and I didn't want to get in trouble for getting home to late so I jogged the rest of the way, making sure not to brake the 3 bottles or hurt the other items. when I got home it was almost dark out and I could see the candles through the window. I go inside and see everyone eating dinner "sorry I'm late, but I come bearing gifts" I say with a smile and hold up the sack of goodies. "and where did you get those?" mama asked and looked at the sack " I bought them from all the money I earned over the years." I wasn't lying about it though, I did earn it, just not in a civilized manner. "so what did you get us then?" Devin asked and turned around in his chair to fully look at me. I walked up to him and pulled out the steel dagger and handed it to him "this is for you" "woah! thanks sis" he smiled and played with it before putting it back into its sheath. I walked over to dad and pulled out the gold ring and the spiced wine, putting it on the table and handing the ring to him. "that's a nice ring, you surely didn't get this for a cheap price" he looked up at me and gave me a hug. I finally walked over to mom and took out the neckless and dropped the bag , "lift up your hair so I can put it on you" I say with a smile and she does as told and I put it around her neck and she moves her hair back into place. She picks up the pendant and smiles. It was a silver pendant with an emerald in the center and two diamonds on the sides of the emerald. "its lovely dear" she hugs me tight and lets go "thank you so much" "its not much but I'm glad you like it. I'm heading to bed though, I'm not really hungry so I'm fine" I wave goodnight and head to my room but before I could mama stopped me "sorry, but would you mind gathering wood for the fire place tonight before heading to bed?" " I don't mind in the slightest mama" I smiles once again before heading out the door.
