Why me?

The Nightmare

I have found a few sticks and twigs and had put them in a bag that I had brought with me. Tonight was a nice night. The stars were bright and the moon was full. I wondered around, picking up sticks as I walked and finally just sat down. I knew I had to go home sometime but now was not it. I lay back and look at the sky, feeling the slight breeze that never seems to leave. I think about how I was born with all of the spells and magicka that mom nor dad would tell me about. I knew that they didn't know of course but they had to know at least something. They always said it was luck but mom didn't believe in luck and dad just didn't like magic all together. He says that its a waist of time, especially when there is a sword at hand, and of course since I'm a smartass I conjured a bound sword but he didn't think it was funny.

I sigh and stand up, picking up my bag of sticks and heading for the house. When I got closer to the house however I heard voices that didn't sound at all like my family. I got worried but got as close as possible without being seen and the only place that could be was between two big trees with branches covering the gap between them. As I watch, I notice that I was right and it wasn't them but bandits and there were at least 10 of them. I wanted to run up to them and try my hardest to kill them but even with all my spells and skill I knew I couldn't do it. Plus I was smart and knew I had to wait for a certain time if it ever came. I'm close enough to hear what they're saying though. "so remind me again why boss wanted them dead?" "Because dumbass, like I've said before, the man didn't pay back what he said he would" "so he thought he could get away from us?" "these half breeds really are stupid". I didn't move, I couldn't move, I knew dad was lying about where he'd got the money but I didn't think he got it from some bandits. Before I could even process anymore of what they were saying, 4 of them moved closer to the house with torches and lit the place on fire. It was shocking how fast the fire spread and I wanted to run but my legs wouldn't let me. I sat and watched in silence and In horror as the house burned down. "that should do it huh?" "yeah, lets go before someone sees us". They all started to leave and I just watched them fade out of sight.

I couldn't hold it back anymore. I started crying and gripping the mix of sand and dead grass in my hands. This was my nightmare and I couldn't stop it. Everything was going on at once, my head hurt from crying at this point. My hands bled from the sharp edges on the dead grass but I didn't care. I couldn't look at the house anymore, so instead I looked at the ground. I watched as my tears hit the ground and the blood on my hands form a little pool round them. My body finally gave up as it hit the ground and I curled into a ball. The world around me seemed to go black as my strength poured out of my body. The last this I saw was a figure In the distance walking towards me and that was it.

I woke up to someone carrying me but I didn't know who. My eyes felt heavy, like I couldn't open them. I try and move my head to look at who ever this person is but my vision is still slightly black and the person is wearing a helmet to cover their face. As I began to fall back asleep, but before I did, they spoke to me "don't be scared, I'm just trying to help and that's it". It came out as a snooty personally but I didn't care at this point. Even if its stupid or not, I trust them for now.
