Why me?

The Lake

     After the awkward situation on the way here, he was quiet. Not saying I don't like it but I didn't like the fact that I knew I had to be the first one to talk.

     We walked up the hill and right at the top was the lake. I sat my stuff down and started setting up the big tent I had bought but never used for some reason till now. As I set up the leather tent, I heard Teldryn unpacking the rest of the stuff. I couldn't take it anymore so I spoke first, dickhead, "this was where I wanted to go for your birthday" I say smiling even though he cant see it. "I told you not to do anything about it, I don't celebrate my birthday" he sighed. "to bad" I laugh and finish setting up the tent. "how old are you anyway, you've never told me" he looked up and looked right at me. " I told you when we met...i was 12 then so  two years later would mean I'm 14 but my birthday is actually in 3 days, odd our s are so close together..." I smiled and bent down to put the bedrolls in the tent. " I don't see it as odd but convenient" I looked back at him confused but shrugged it off once more, not really caring. I move to the bag I threw my hood in and put it back on, as I did though I heard a sigh from Teldryn. "oh come on, I like the way you look and I'm not judging you for your damn ears." he half yelled but wasn't mad. with that I looked at him "then take off your helmet and ill leave my hood off" knowing he wouldn't. He didn't say anything and Stayed quiet. Knowing I won, I mentally high fived myself while smiling widely.

     I go inside the tent and pulled down the leather doors so I could change without Teldryn seeing. "don't come in till I come out " I say to his back while he sets up the fire. I get a "mmhm" in return as I go in, making sure the leather stays in place. I undress out of my belted tunic and put on my shorts I made out of cutting my older pants and a tank that I cut from an older shirt. Once I'm done i open the leather tent and roll them up to the top of the tent and pin them there. Teldryn had the fire built already but couldn't light it, so being the jerk I am, I quietly come up behind him and poke his neck to scare him. He yelped and fell over from where he was sitting. "need help?" I smile innocently and laugh. "the hell is wrong with you?!" " now now, its not nice to cuss in front of a young girl like me" I laugh and shoot the flame spell at the fire but a stronger fire comes out which looks to be the spell incinerate. I jump back and stare and the fire that is now lit but the flames are larger than intended. I look over and Teldryn and he's looking back at me, "why did you use a stronger spell like that when you could've just done a novice once?" " I didn't mean to, I was going to do just the novice flame spell but it came out much stronger and I didn't even know I knew incinerate...well i knew i could but didn't know i had enough magicka yet...." I sit there and stare at the fire. "how can you use a spell you didn't even know you could do?" he asked and then it hit me. I know I knew every spell but I didn't know I had the magicka to actually use it. " there's something you should probably know that I haven't told you" I smile awkwardly up at him now that he stood up to move closer to me. "which is?" he asked "well.....I know every spell ever known to race, but i didn't know i had to actual magicka to use the stronger spells. I was born with the spells and my dad somehow knew that i could do what i do and that's one of the reasons we lived in isolation in the woods because i couldn't control it yet. Eventually i could but not completely and some how now i can do the stronger spells..." i sit there quietly and watch the fire. after a few minutes he spoke up. "so you can do all this and cant control it completely, but you are just now telling me when you could've killed me when zapping me when we first met and just now?". "yeah, i honestly don't know how i was able to control it for so long but i did somehow." i say quietly but i get an idea and smile widely, looking up at him. "hey buddy?" i giggle quietly and he looks at me questionably. "what?"
