"What's your name?" the man asked me.

"It's Meslie" I answered.

"I'm Daryl, you can stay with us for today, I'll have to talk with the leader of our group- he'll decide if you can stay with us longer."

It felt like my luck was finally changing. If their leader let me stay with them, I could get back on my feet, and get better at killing flesh eaters.

I had a chance to survive.

"Thank you." I finally said.

He just looked at me and nodded.

We ran a bit, coming across a few flesh eaters. After about a mile, we got to a motorcycle.

"Is it yours?" I asked. I didn't like asking many questions, especially to a man who I had just met about 20 minutes ago. But the curiosity won me over.

"Yeah, hop on."

I walked towards the bike, and got on the back, he placed a black bandana over his mouth and mounted the motorcycle.

"Hold on tight."

I grabbed the metal sides, I felt my palms sweat a bit.

We drove , and drove, and finally got to a big building, with fencing, and a few walkers around. Two orange gates opened widely, and we drove right past them-as we did, I saw a lady with long wavy hair.

Daryl stopped the motorcycle and I got off, my legs shaking a bit.

The lady came up to us running, her hands placed around her stomach, that's when I noticed a small baby bum- Oh.

"Who's this?" she asked, looking at me smiling a bit, I returned the smile.

"This is Meslie, I found her while looking for supplies, I didn't find anything- unless she counts. She's good with a knife."

My cheeks felt a bit hot and I looked at the ground. I had never received a compliment of my knife skills.

"Well, lets get her inside, maybe let Hershel check if shes fine and introduce her to the rest of the group."

I looked up, "I'm fine, I don't need to be checked."

"Still necessary." Daryl said behind me, spitting on the floor.

"I'm Lori. Come with me." The lady- Lori offered me her hand. I had just gotten here and I didn't wanna be rude so I reached out for it, suddenly feeling like a child.

I was 12. Not really a child, Pre-teen.

Lori led me to the inside of what I had guessed now to be a prison. She told an old man to announce my arrival. He was missing one of his feet, and it made me wonder what this group had gone through. Maybe I wasn't the only one who had bad luck.

He gave me a warm smile, and I felt like I had stared at his stump for too long.

"Hershel-welcome."

"Actually I'm pretty sure I'm just staying for the night, but thank you" I said with a smile.

After a few minutes, everyone had gathered up, and I saw a boy, close to my age with chocolate colored hair and ocean blue eyes. We made eye contact , I quickly looked away.

Darn my long lasting habbit to look.
