"C-Carl?" What was Carl doing in my cell?
He looked up and saw me, placing the book down.
"Can I talk to you?" What did he want to tell me now? Maybe to point out my flaws?
"Yeah- sure. Have a seat"
I sat on the bed and Carl sat on the edge, facing me.I'll admit it was a bit awkward but I liked it. The atmosphere- just us two.Wait what?
Carl spoke "Look, I'm sorry if I have been a bit of a .. bad person. But I'm just not used to people joining our group. Last time it happened it didn't go so well"
Now I knew who those dried up blood droplets belonged to.Carl continued, looking down at the sheets. "I'm sorry okay?"
"Carl." He looked up. His eyes meeting mine. "It's fine- trust me. I get it. Thanks for apologizing, but you didn't have to."
His frown turned into a smile. And I couldn't help but smile back. After a few seconds we broke the eye contact and he grabbed my hand. What was he doing now? His hand was warm, and soft. He let go, and got up from my bed.
He walked out of the cell, then stopped. He looked back;
"By the way- those books? They suck."
And he continued to walk, heading downstairs and outside. I smiled, Oh Carl.
Maggie passed by, and took a quick glance inside. I saw her wink- she probably heard everything.
I threw my whole body on the bed and sighed. All I could think about was Carl holding my hand. How great it felt; and how I was probably blushing like crazy.
Then I remembered what I had came here for , to clean. I had rested enough so I got up and went downstairs to get a few napkins from the so called 'kitchen'. I spit on them and started cleaning away the blood on my wall. It suprised me how easily they came off.
Maybe they were still a bit fresh.
