Chapter 23

Bang bang

"Shoot faster!"

"I can't waste all the bullets! We're almost out! Try killing them with the knife you got!"

My mom quickly following my dads orders, took some steps closer to the hideous things that were chasing us. She stabbed and stabbed, in the stomach, shoulders, everywhere, except the head.

"Mom try stabbing them in the brain!"

"What?" she yelled back as she turned around.

"Mom look out!"

Her ears must have gotten the message, she quickly sprinted back and faced the other way.

My heart was beating fast. My mom should be more careful.

I wiped the tears once more from my face. It seemed like thats all I did. But it wasn't all, I too was helping my parents and sister from the hideous things. Since I was the youngest, I was at the very back. Our truck covered my back, in case some tried to sneak up on my back.

I looked ahead, about 30 more of the things were still heading towards us, some too close.

"We need to go!" I yelled

They all ran backwards and after my dad shot a few more, missing here and there, we got into our truck.

I looked out the dirty windows, our neighbors lying dead on the grass of their front yard. Knife still in their hands. Their son had barely left the week before , on a trip to Atlanta. We were in Athens.

"Watch out!"
