ALANA POV

A shrill, unwanted ringing noise filled my ears, and I felt myself slowly regaining consciousness. The ringing sound repeated itself, and I finally groaned loudly until the sound was abruptly silenced. I felt a warm touch on my waist.

"Get up baby it's time for school." the voice whispered in my ear. I shook my head, not sure if I was awake or dreaming. I hoped I was dreaming. I didn't want to go to school, especially not a new school at that. I swatted my hand out and felt someone catch my wrist. I heard a deep chuckle and recognized it as Chris' voice.

"No hitting. Get up." he said, repremanding me like I was a child. I bit my pillow.

"Leave me alone." I said, my voice coming out muffled through the pillow.

"No, we already agreed that you'd be going to school today. Come on Lana, get up, it can't be that bad." he said, trying to coax me out of bed as he offered me reassuring words. I sighed deeply.

"Just one more day." I whined, slowly opening my eyes until I saw him hovering over me.

"Nope." he said firmly, looking down at me as if to say "you know better". I rolled my eyes.

"Fine." I said, lightly pushing him off me and climbing out of bed as I threw the covers back. "What time do I have to go?" I asked absentmindedly as I made my way over to the dresser and began pulling out clothes. I felt a strong pair of arms wrap around my waist before his husky voice filled my ear.

"Don't worry about it. I'll be driving you." he said as he kissed my ear softly. I giggled and pushed his chest away.

"No way! It'sgonna look weird." I said as I blushed. He pretended to look hurt.

"How?" he asked softly as he took my hand and looked up at me.

"Because...I don't know it just will. I can drive you know." I said, smirking a little as I wrapped my arms around his neck. He shrugged.

"It's your first day of school there. I'm driving you. End of story. Now get ready." he said, pecking my lips and then turning away to go downstairs and get ready himself. I sighed and finished getting out my clothes before I prepared to get dressed and go to a new school. It all had me extremely nervous, since I wasn't sure what to expect, or what the others at the school would think about me. I mean, they'd most likely instantly label me as an idiot. Who in their right mind transferred to a new school in their senior year a month before summer break? It didn't make any sense!

I finished brushing my teeth and then I looked into the mirror to make sure I didn't look like I would stand out or cause too much attention. I didn't want anyone knowing that I was a new student, although most of them would probably notice it instantly. I sighed once more before exiting the bathroom and walking downstairs to meet Chris.

"Eat a pop-tart." he said, tossing one to me. I barely caught it before I frowned at him.

"I just brushed my teeth. I'll eat later." I said, tossing it back to him. He rolled his eyes.

"Whatever. Let's go." he mumbled, taking my hand and grabbing his keys as he led me out of the house. "Got your phone?" he asked as he climbed into his car. I pulled out my phone and looked at him weirdly.

"Yeah, why?" I asked curiously. He looked at me with something that almost resembled fear in his eyes.

"Alana, you don't know how worried I am about Blake. If he figured out where you're attending school, he could easily get onto the school property and take you from me again. And I don't want him to touch you. I don't want him to even look at you. If you see him at all just call me. Just call me if...if anything is supicious." he said, keeping my gaze locked with his.
