Ryan's POV

"You want the rest of that?" Dex was pointing at my last cheese-stick. It had been a couple of days since he had last seen Mya, he needed his distance from her, he couldn't even think straight around her.
"Dude, did you hear me...whats wrong?" Dex was looking directly at me now.
"Nothing...its nothing, my dad is coming Friday to visit us, just stressed thats all." That wasn't what is was, but it was true at least. My father always seems to add stress to my life. Everything has to be a certain way with that man.
"Yeah... he does have that affect on people..." Dex wasn't to keen on my father and that was for good reason. My dad always has something to say about Dex, and nothing too pleasant.
"Don't worry he won't be here long, he's campaigning right now, and is giving a speech in the auditorium."
"Great. I won't be around to hear him talk about my cologne again. Thats for sure." I chuckled, his cologne was strong.
"Listen-" I stopped my sentence. there she was walking up the steps of the union. She looks better every time she's in sight. I got up from where I was at and began to follow her, not thinking of Dex. I wasn't going to talk to Mya, so what was I doing...
I made it up the steps and saw her walk into a room...220. I knew where she was going, that damn BSU club. I heard they were planning a rally at my dad's speech this Friday. Why would Mya be going in there, I know she's black but wasn't she friends with my sister?
I wanted to hear what they were saying so I ducked in the back.

Mya's POV
There were more people in here then I thought it'd be. I decided to sit isolated from everyone, at least for the first day.
"Okay everyone.. lets get started," Deon spoke up, "We got a few things to go over," then he turned to me, "Also, we have a couple of new members here," if that was true why is he still staring at me. "Would you guys please stand and tell us your names?"
Before I could get up to speak a big light skin guy beat me to the punch. "Hey, I'm Montrell, but y'all can call me T-rell for short," his cajun accent couldn't go unnoticed.
Next, was a skinny black girl with binoculars for glasses spoke, "Hello, my fellow members, I'm Shelly Mitchell, I am here on a full scholarship, majoring in Political science, and this will be my third...." Blah, blah, blah. This bitch was going to be a problem. I tuned her out that I didn't even hear Lyra say my name.
"Girl... Mya"
"Sorry!" I stood up, everyone eyes were on me, don't get shy now. "Uh... I'm Mya," I did a weird motion with my hand that I couldn't explain, "Mya Daniels, I can't wait to see what this club has in store for the school year," I heard a chuckle behind me, apparently I was the only one. When I sat down I turned my head to see a figure in the shadows. Some weirdo probably.
"Great to hear, well we do have something coming up this Friday actually," Lyra said.
"Senator Carter is giving a speech this Friday," I listened intently, Kelly's Dad was going to be here. Why didn't she tell me. "We are protesting, of course you don't have to if it will make you uncomfortable," Deon said, he looked at me at that last statement, challenging my loyalties.
"If you guys aren't aware, Senator Carter is a bigot, under his administration more black and hispanics have been put in jail, has raised tried to pass laws to defund organizations geared towards minorites and has been caught using the N-word on more than one occasion," Deon was talking and the more he said, the more venomous he sounded.
I heard more moving in the back, whoever it was wasn't to ecstatic about Deon talking about the Senator like that.
"We would like to know who'll be attending by a raise of hands," Lyra said, immediately everyones hand shot up. Me on the other hand, I was unsure, I know I'm against the senator but, Kelly is still my friend. Deon began staring daggers at me.
"Of course if anyone is scared thats ok..." Deon said. He was calling me a bitch, not to my face but still. I raised my hand, he wasn't going to get the better of me, but I still wasn't going to have my reputation tarnished with this club so early on. As soon as I raised my hand, the door to slammed shut from behind me.

Ryan's POV
"Let's go!" my voice was booming at this point. Why was I mad, everything that was said about my dad was true, but I don't think he's a bigot, just those people are in jail because they committed the crime, and those organizations were a waste of government spending. That isn't why I was mad though, I felt betrayed by a girl, who want even give me the time of day. And the way Deon keeps staring at her, what the hell is wrong with me!
"Bro, whats wrong!" Dex said, he ran up beside me as I made my way out of the union.
"Friday, we are putting a stop to that club rioting my dad's speech, you hear me!" Dex looked confused, he slowly nodded his head.
"Ok... but why though? Cant the cops handle that shit?"
"Yeah, but I think those people need to be taught a lesson on respect, thats all..." This was stupid I know it is, but if she can hurt me I could do the same.

This going to be a slow-burn, Ryan and Mya will be butting heads for the time being.
