Part 11

Jerry's(Ryan's dad) POV

She looks just like her... Annie. Those eyes. Just the same as the last day I saw her. All these years of trying to move on from her and her doppelgänger appears, and I can't even act right. Not even in front of my own wife.

Annie Mae.

"Dad are you ok..." Kelly was looking at me. I snapped out of my trance to see everyone staring at me. Mary didn't even looked surprised by the name. She's heard me say it more than once in my sleep.

"I am fine." I readjusted my suit and turned to the security guard, "see that this lady gets her face looked at." He nodded and escorted the girl out of my presence.

"Who's Annie?" Ryan looked at me... he was always the curious one out of the two.

"No one."

"Then why did you call Mya that?" He seemed very defensive of this girl. Just like me over 25 years ago. A girl you couldn't have...

"Why does it matter? Now drop it!" I barked at him.

"Yessir." He reluctantly said. Ryan wants answers. Unfortunately this is one secret I won't share.

"You take your mother back to her hotel. You hear me boy." Ryan just nods his head and escorts a heartbroken Mary out. She knows that she was always be the second choice.

"Where is your friend from?" I turned my attention to Kelly.

"Macon." Macon? That's close to where she was at the last time I heard from her.

"Parents?" Kelly was suspicious but she wouldn't talk back to me.

"She says she has them... but doesn't speak to much on them. I haven't even seen a picture of them." Interesting... could she be Annie's daughter?

"Why are you so interested in her?" Kelly asked me.

"I just want to know who you are living with. She did start a brawl not too long ago." This girl was just as bold as Annie too. Not many girls would stand up to a man like that.

"She isn't a bad person. Mya doesn't agree with your political stance on most issues." I walked over and sat down in the chair.

"That doesn't give her the right to just barge in with her band of thugs!"

"They aren't! Mya didn't start it, that jerk with the beer belly did. He spit in her face dad! And your son started it!" This was the first time Kelly has ever risen her voice to me. This Mya girl has a huge affect on my children.

"Darling... you're right. If you and Ryan vouch for her like this I'd like her to come to dinner with us tonight?" I wanted to get to know her better.

"Are you serious?" Kelly eyes had hope in them, and I couldn't say no to my baby girl.

"Yes. We can see past our political differences if it means making you happy." Kelly ran up and gave me a hug.

"Great. I'm going to go tell her now!" Kelly ran to find her friend. This left me time to be in my thoughts.

The last time I heard from Annie was 19 years ago. I had just had Ryan, she sent me one of her letters telling me about her life was going. She kept her promise of sending me letters every chance we got, even when we weren't together... then they just stopped. She ended up a couple of miles out of Macon... but never did she say she was pregnant. But Mya was definitely her child... I could never forget that face even if it was on someone else.

So Mya might help me find her again... I need closure. To tell Annie that I'm sorry. I was just a stupid kid back then, who let his ignorant father get in the way of the only good thing I had.
