Chapter 27

The sun still shone above the trees when they exited the caverns. It was nearly dusk and everyone looked ready to hit the ground with exhaustion, especially the horses. The fairy, who they now knew as Sevigne, still walked with them as they made their way through the forest to find a good resting place out of the way of travelers and prying eyes. When they finally settled, she turned to leave.

"Will we get to visit again soon," Biv asked her, tugging on the hem of her dress. She turned to him and bent to his height, rubbing the hair on his head between the small stubby point of his horns.

"I will see you again on your journey back," she smiled. "I think it is time we allow ourselves some freedom. I will give you guys a tour of the underground on your way back, as long as you guys keep it all a secret." She gave Biv a motherly smile.

"Secrets are our specialty," Griss gave her a curt bow. The fairy stood and looked at her endearingly. Heidi could tell she already understood Griss's story. "You have nothing to worry about miss I can assure you that."

"Thank you Griss, I greatly appreciate it. She took Griss's hand as a gesture of thanks and farewell. She finally turned to Lillianna before making her exit. "Say hello to your mother for me. Her family as well as mine misses her greatly."

"I will next time I see her," she smiled, nodding to her. Mila dismounted as Sevigne disappeared into the woods. She turned to Lillianna as she began to dismount, stopping her before she could swing a leg over her horse.

"What did she mean?"

Lillianna looked down at her for a moment before speaking. "I'm half elf. Elves are related to fairies. My mother lived in one of the elven cities to the west of the loch. She found herself in Archibald when she travelled with her father to make peace terms and she stumbled upon the fairy tree in the mountains back when Sevigne visited the animal guardians. She spent a few years serving them before making her own family with a human silversmith."

"You guys know about the tree?" Krasner stated. Biv looked at his father, excited but clueless to what he was talking about. Mila's temper began to rise the more information spewed out of their mouths. With the look on Biv's face, she understood exactly how little he knew about his own brother.

"Yeah that's where we were travelling from when we met you," Heidi replied to him.

"So you know of him. Don't you?"

"Who?" Biv looked at his father for an answer. He could see something hidden in his father's eyes and his shoulders slumped.

"Your brother."

"Pan?"

"No, your other brother. His name is Took. Pan is only your half-brother. Took is part faun too. He was my first born."

"What? Why didn't I know about him?" Biv looked taken aback by his father's claim. He didn't even know about the brother waiting in the mountains only miles away, much closer than the distance from their home to the entrance of the caverns back in Archibald.

"Your mother wanted to keep an eye on him, so she asked me to give him to the animals at the tree."

"But why? What about me?" Biv looked as if he was the child forgotten by his own father, despite the fact that he was the only one in contact with both of his parents.
