"So you don't mind if I ask you a couple of questions?" Hayley asked from her seat across the table. We were out in the courtyard, sitting at the table me and Klaus had been drinking at only a few nights before.
"I don't mind. It's just I don't really remember that much about my childhood. It didn't last very long.." I trailed off. She had asked me to step outside when Stefan, Elijah and Klaus had begun their secret boy scout meeting or whatever. She wanted to know what it'd been like for me growing up as a Hybrid baby.
"That's okay. Unfortunately they don't make 'What to expect from your Hybrid Baby for Dummies,' so whatever you can tell me will be better than nothing." she said with a smile.
I nodded, "So, what do you want to know?"
She took in a deep breath, absentmindedly rubbing her hands over her swollen belly as she thought.
"Did your Mother have any issues with her pregnancy? Like was the birth okay?"
I scrunched my eyebrows together, trying to think, "My Mother never talked about it. From the day I was born until I was 8 years old I was treated like a normal kid. I never asked if she had any trouble while she was pregnant."
"What happened when you were 8? Why did they stop treating you like a normal kid?"
I took in a shaky breath, looking up at the fading light in the sky, I hated talking about this. "When I was 8 I killed for the first time. My hybrid side had been pretty dormant for the most part. I was playing with my friends and this girl, her name was Samantha, she fell and scraped her knee. All I remember was that during the exact moment that she hurt herself and started bleeding I had completely lost control of myself."
I stopped. A lump had formed in my throat and I could feel tears pricking at the corners of my eyes.
"I'm sorry," I whispered, wiping them away with the back of my hand. I hated crying.
"We don't have to talk about this if you're uncomfortable.." Hayley said in a quiet voice. I think she wanted to comfort me but wasn't sure how to do it.
"No, it's okay, really." I took in another deep breath, relaxing myself, "By the time I was caught I'd killed everyone in the town. It was a massacre. One thousand, seven hundred and twenty three lives were lost because of me. I remember the exact amount. I have nightmares about it sometimes. Anyway, after my parents caught me we moved and that's when they first began to chain me. It's also when they, well.. you know."
"When they started using you as a weapon." Hayley finished for me. She leaned back in her seat, her hands holding her stomach.
"I'm so sorry you had to go through that Arista."
I shrugged, "Don't pity me, please. I'm tired of everyone feeling sorry for me."
She smiled, "I promise I will never feel sorry for you ever again. I won't even feel guilty for not buying you a present when your birthday comes. Deal?"
I laughed, "Deal."
I was really starting to like Hayley. She was nice and had attitude. Despite the fact that she was carrying a monster baby inside of her, I think we could become good friends.
Klaus's POV
I looked from Stefan to Elijah, trying to read the expression on their faces. I'd just finished relaying everything that Sophie had told me about Pip.
"So... what do we do?"
Elijah was the first to speak. He was obviously surprised by the news. We all were. In the hundreds of years that we'd been alive we'd never encountered something like this.
