I woke up next to a warm body. Rolling over, I came face to face with Klaus's blue eyes. I remembered how I'd depended on his presence last night, how he'd been the only thing to keep me calm. Now in the daylight, I felt weird thinking that I'd just slept in the same bed as him.

"Oh good, you're up."

I thought perhaps his kindness from last night would continue today but I couldn't have been more wrong. As soon as the words left his mouth he sat up and shoved me off of the bed. I landed on the cold floor with a thud.

"What the hell?" I yelled as I glared up at him. He was standing now, walking over to his dresser and yanking a shirt out, pulling it over his head.

"I've got things to do. Leave."

"What? Scared someone might catch you actually being nice for once?"

It angered me how easily he was able to switch from being nice and genuine to a complete asshole who I loathed.

"I've just grown tired of babysitting duty. I don't particularly enjoy being stuck with a sniffling child all night long."

Ouch.

His words hurt. I stood, storming out of the room and harshly slamming the door behind me as I did. What was his deal? He'd been so nice yesterday and now he was back to being regular old Klaus.

A complete douchebag.

"No wonder nobody likes you." I said under my breath as I walked into my room. As I turned to close the door a brown fuzz ball ran in.

"You've finally awoken.."

I jumped hearing his voice. "Ya know if you're going to keep this whole talking thing up then you really need to explain to me how it's even possible. Are you like some kind of magic dog or something?"

"All will be explained in time.."

I rolled my eyes at his answer. First Klaus had been a dick, now Pip was talking in riddles. Plus I really needed a bath and could really use some blood. I was stressing out.

I turned from him and walked towards the bathroom. Why can't anything be simple? Why does everything have to be so damn complicated?

"I am not a dog. Though, my clan are the ancestors to the breed."

What? I stopped and turned to him with a raised eyebrow, "Then what are you? I'm pretty sure you're not a cat."

"In Latin, I am Lupus. In Croatian, I am Vuk. In Lithuanian, I am Vilkas. I am called many things but in the end it is simple, I am wolf."

Klaus's POV

I walked down the streets of New Orleans, taking in the familiar sights and smells. It was truly one of my favorite places in the world. So much music, art, and culture. I loved it here.

I made my way down a busy sidewalk, weaving in and out of the humans gawking about. I had my mind set on one destination and one person in particular. Sophie Deveraux.

I walked into her shop, seeing her standing behind the counter. When she saw me she froze. A smirk crossed my lips as I made my way over to her.

"I think you've got some explaining to do, Miss Deveraux."

"Listen, I don't want any trouble."

Her eyes were wary as she stared at me. Worry was clear in her features. I could smell the fear on her.

"Well I suppose as long as you cooperate there won't be any trouble, will there love? Firstly, I'd like an explanation as to why you were in fact in my house yesterday."
