Harry could feel the awkwardness of the situation, and that's not just because Hermione was breathing down the collar of his shirt and Ron's hand had hit Harry somewhere personal.

"Oi!" Harry whisper-shouted.

"Sorry, mate!" Ron replied quietly.

"I think we're here." Hermione grabbed the corner of the Invisibility Cloak and pulled it off. The library air was much cooler than it had been underneath the crowded cloak. Harry sighed and Ron took a deep breath. "Let's get moving," Hermione whispered.

Ron held up his Deluminator and clicked. The lighter-like device formed a bright ball of light, which expanded and flew off Ron's hand, making the entire library visible. Hermione took no moment to waste and headed towards the Restricted Section. Harry and Ron, who were much faster than she, jogged lightly to catch up with her and easily matched her stride.

"So what exactly are we looking for?" Harry asked, slowing to met Hermione's pace.

"Something on magical beasts. All in existance would be lovely. Or at least the ones native to Europe." Hermione flicked her hair behind her shoulder but never slowing her speed.

They reached the section and immediately began searching. Ron took the topmost shelves, being that he was the tallest, Harry the middle rows, and Hermione the bottoms, forcing her to crouch slightly so she could reach the lowest books. Methodically, they scanned the shelves, every so often pulling worn, leather-bound texts from their place.

That's when they heard the footsteps.

Ron clicked his Deluminator and Harry ushered the cloak over their heads. Ducking, they managed to cover themselves completely, but just barely. Through the cloak, they saw a lantern clutched in a shriveled, pale hand, lighting up an equally shriveled and pale face. Filch. With his scraggly voice he called, "Who's in here?" He searched the shelves, running a long finger down the spines of the books. He reached a thick gap that had once held a work that was now clutched in Hermione's hand. He turned, looking to see if the book had been misplaced elsewhere. but he seemed to realize that it was nowhere he could see. He looked over, dangerously close to where the trio hid behind the cloak, but was immediately distracted by a scream, shrill and terrified. Filch ran from the library, as did Harry, Ron and Hermione.
