"You guys never got kidnapped?" I ask in confusion, my eye twitches in anger as Aphrodite yells at James. So he kidnaps me but no one else? How is that fair?
"Why me?" I sigh and turn towards James, his eyes were as wide as saucers as Bates tried to explain to Sadie what had happened.
Apparentley Sadie is dating Bates, Aphrodite is dating Zane. And then there's me, single forever. Who's with me?
Zane tries to calm Aphrodite down which doesn't work.
"What the actual heck James?!?! Kidnapping this poor girl?! How could-"
"She's mine Aphrodite."
Ahem, do I have a say in this?
"Okay James, but I don't think kidnapping this girl is flattering." Aphrodite runs a hand through her dark brown hair and sighs, Sadie walks towards me with a sweet smile.
"Hey, I'm so sorry this happened to you. But the boys aren't as scary as you think. They're stupid large babies." Sadie rolls her eyes, I chuckle and cross my arms over my chest.
"So, why did the boys break into my school?" I ask, trying to pry some answers off of her.
"They broke into your school?!?! Okay tell me how this happened." Sadie says, half interest, half anger.
"Well our school was put on lock down, this bimbo kept arguing with me so I left the classroom and walked down the hall, Bates and Zane saw me wondering around and tried to kidnap me. They brought me to James, instantly James grabbed me and threw me into the car and drove me home. So, yeah." I say awkwardly, it looked as if Sadie would explode any minute now.
"James, ahem, you broke into her school?" Sadie asks with a fake smile plastered on her face.
"W-Well, you see-"
"No, shut it James. I'm done. We're taking her back to her house, right now." Sadie cuts the conversation and grabs the keys on the table.
"NO!" James yells before snatching the keys from her grasp, he breathes heavily with anger. Once again, do I have a say in this?
"No James! I get it you like her but you can't just kidnap her! She has family and friends that are probably worrying their asses off. It's been 24 hours, meaning the police are most likely half way through the whole city searching for her. Do you really wanna go to jail? Let. Her. Go." Sadie explodes, it's crazy, she looks so small and innocent, who knew she could blow up like that. I nod in agreement.
"I won't go to jail Sadie, in case you forgot I basically own the police." James rolls his eyes, he owns the police? That's impossible.
"C-Can I go home? Please?" I muster up the best puppy dog face I could before James finally broke. "Ugh, fine. Let's go visit them so you can tell them you're alright." James sighs, his shoulders slump down in defeat.
"No visiting. Just let her go. She can still visit you!" Aphrodite tries to compromise.
"No, she's safer here, with me." James puffs his chest out as I chuckle humorlessly.
"Okay let's go!" I cheer and grab James hand to lead him towards the door, James looks down at me with an unknown spark in his eyes. They glimmered so brightly at me, my heart fluttered suddenly causing me to look away shyly.
"Awe, puppy love!" Bates coos at us causing James to glare at him, I blush furiously before throwing my shoes on and wait for everyone else to hurry up.
Finally we all get in the car together and make our way to my house.
"No! Bates turn left!"
"I did!"
"No! You turned right you idiot, do you know your left and rights?" I roll my eyes in frustration at this dumbo in the front seat. James chuckles beside me, Zane makes fun of Bates for not knowing left and right. I don't even know what Sadie and Aphrodite are doing, I think they're talking about makeup or something.
"Okaaaay, we're here." Bates says as we pull into my driveway, the house looked so silent, as if no one has been in it for years. You couldn't hear Charlie screaming about coconuts in the kitchen, or my mother scold us in the living room. It looked dead.
I sigh loudly and run out of the car, towards the house I grew up in. It felt like years since I was here even though it was only a day.
I grasp the doorknob and push the door open, instantly I come face-to-face with my parents.
"GRACE!" They yell and pull me in a tight hug.
I hug them tighter then I ever have before, I felt tears fall on my shoulder causing me to silently whimper.
We pull away causing me to look behind them, the person standing there behind me had me bawling my eyes out.
Charlie had dark circles underneath his eyes, his hair was tangled up in a rats nest. He was crying which had me at more tears. "Hey Char." I smile weakly.
"Oh God." Charlie sighs and pulls me in a tight hug, his warmth had set me at ease. It's only been a day and he was already a mess, I pull him closer to me and let out a sob.
"LET HER GO NOW!!!" I hear James yell causing Charlie to jump in surprise.
"Don't listen to him. How are you? Are you okay?" I ask worriedly.
"I should be asking you that." Charlie chuckles and throws an arm around my shoulder.
"What happened?" My mom asks, her eyebrows furrowed deeply in worry.
"Well, uhm, these guys broke into our school and tried to kidnap me. But these guys right here saved me and let me stay the night at their house for the night. They were super nice and they're my new friends."
Lies.
"Grace?" Charlie asks, he knows I'm lying. After all I called him about it earlier.
I give him a warning look, Charlie gives me an unconvincing look but nods anyways.
I look over at James to see him clenching his fists in jealousy. He needs to chill, this is my best friend, it's not like we're dating or something.
Looks like I've found his weakness.
