I walk out of the classroom, holding my math book which has my notes stuffed in it. I feel like I did good on the exam, I feel good about it. I smile widely as I reach my locker, thank the lord for James. Without him I would've died, that exam was brutal. It lasted two effing hours.

I open my locker and grab all my things to go home. You see, this is exam week. Each day for this week, we have ten minutes in homeroom and then we take a two hour exam. It's pretty brutal but at least I get to wave an exam.

"Hey, Grace?" I hear an unknown voice behind me, I turn around to see Jacob standing there with a nervous look on his face.

Jacob is on the football team, he's super nice and smart. I talked to him a couple times at the beginning of the year but we never really kept up with it.

"Hi Jacob!" I cheer, grabbing all my notes and tossing them carelessly in the my backpack.

"I-I was wondering if you wanted to hang o-out sometime." Jacob says, scratching the back of his neck nervously.

"Okay, you still have my number, right?" I ask him, throwing my backpack over my shoulders. I gave him my number in the beginning of the year, once again, we never kept up with it.

"Uh, yeah, yeah I do." Jacob smiles slightly.

"Okay, cool beans, well you can just text me tonight, k?" I say raising a brow.

Jacob nods before I start walking to the school doors. People were still talking and hanging out in the parking lot, guys were checking out the girls and the girls were just worrying about their french manicures. I shake my head before meeting Charlie's eyes at his Jeep.

I walk up to him and climb in the car, buckling up and waiting for him to start the car.

Charlie puts the keys in the ignition and turns it, his face pales once the Jeep doesn't react.

"Um, Charlie? What's wrong?"

"The car won't start." Charlie sighs, cursing underneath his breath afterwards.

I sigh before pulling out my phone and pressing James contact as Charlie continues to try to bring his Jeep to life.

Suddenly I look over only to see Jacob walking up to the Jeep. I instantly end the call and roll down the windows.

"Hey, I notice your cars not starting, need a ride?" Jacob asks, raising his eyebrow, looking at us questioningly.

I look at Charlie and nod, he nods too. "Yeah that would be great, thank you." I sigh, climbing out of the car with Charlie following my movements. We grab our things and move to Jacobs car.

"I call shotgun." I yell, taking the front seat before smirking at Charlie.

"Thank you Jake." I say once Jacob gets in the car, using his nickname. Suddenly he blushes but quickly recovers.

"U-Uh, yeah, n-no problem." Jacob says, starting the car and getting on the road.

I turn up the radio as Charlie gives Jacob the directions to my house.

"Oh na na, just be careful, na na, love ain't simple, na na, promise me no promises." I sing under my breath, soon we reach my house and I notice another vehicle in the driveway. Charlie gives me a questioning looks, I shrug not knowing who it is.

I climb out of the car, thanking Jacob one more time. Before I'm about to walk inside, the door swings open revealing Aphrodite and Sadie. How did they get in?

James stood behind them, he comes up to me and gives me a smirk.

But then he notices Jacob.

James clenches his jaw and glares at Jacob, if looks could kill, Jacob would be six feet under.

James moves past me and up to the car, instantly I knew trouble was on its way.

"James!" I warn, but he didn't listen. James swings open the door, grabbing Jacob by the collar of his shirt and pushing him up against the car.

"Listen here, buddy, you stay away from her or I will do unimaginable things to you. You won't be able to remember your own name. Stay away from her. This is a warning, just know I could do much worse. Okay?" James spits before letting him go. Jacob falls to the ground, wide-eyed. He looked petrified, I would be too. Who does James think he is?

Jacob scurries off in his car and drives away, Charlie stood next to me, he was stiff with no emotion showing on his face.

James walks back up to me, before he could say anything I burst out "Why did you do that?!"

"Because, he wants you. I can see it in his eyes, he likes you." James spits out, glaring at the floor.

"He's a friend! You can't do that to every guy I come in contact with! And how the hell did you even get in my house?! I could call the police ya know! Stop being possessive and jealous all the time! We aren't even together!" I yell in his face, stomping in the house before slamming the door shut, locking him out.

Aphrodite and Sadie sat silent on the couch, Charlie was right behind me. I could almost feel the awkward tension in the air, and I hated it.

"Why is he like this?" I sigh, asking Aphrodite and Sadie. They look up at me with wide eyes before answering.

"Well, ever since his little sister was kidnapped, he's been on edge and protective of who he loves. He doesn't want anyone taking what's his-"

"But I'm not his." I cut off with a sigh.

"I'm sorry if i sound like a b*tch but we aren't even together. I get that his little sister is gone but that doesn't give him a ticket to hurt others. I bet he doesn't even care about his sisters absence!" I glare, instantly I feel bad for saying that. Guilt seeps in instantly once Sadie looks up at me in horror, what have I done?

"I-I didn't m-mean it like that, I-I, um. Y-You, uh, nevermind." I stutter, wiping my eyes before running up the stairs and into my bedroom.

"Grace!" Charlie calls out, I ignore him and choke back my sob. Why am I crying? Why am I so emotional?

"Go away!" I scream, my voice already cracking with tears. I wipe my eyes again before dropping my things and falling carelessly on my bed.

How could I say that?
