7. First Day

Arias POV
I had trouble sleeping last night, I didn't have Ezra to hold plus I had a math test today which I hadn't been able to study much for as I left my text book at Ezra's yesterday. Even that text I had seen on Ezra's phone had kept me thinking for hours. How could someone be so forward knowing he has a girlfriend. I had a shower and got dressed into a simple pair of black shorts, polka dot chiffon blouse accompanied by some dark blue wedges. I made my way down stairs. My parents got back super late last night so I hadn't heard about how their weekend went. I walked into the kitchen and spotted Mike and mom at the dining table. I poured myself a coffee and made my way over and took a seat.

"Good morning mom...Mike" I said smiling at them both.

"Morning honey how was your weekend?" She asked smiling.

"Really good. I had to study for a math test but hung out with the girls at lunch yesterday" I replied grabbing a piece of toast and smearing jam over it. "How was your weekend in New York with Dad?" I asked wondering where dad actually was.

"We attended that new museum opening it was fabulous. We will have to take you guys for a look some time" she replied.

"No thanks" Mike added before leaving the table.

"Where is Dad?" I asked.

"Oh in New York he met up with and old friend who's the head of the English department at Tainbridge. He went to work early to finalise a trip to organise a meeting with their English department and Hollis's to inter great a program between them" she replied taking a sip of coffee.

I thought to myself how Ezra had spent the whole weekend planning his English course only for it to now possibly be changed.
"So does that mean anyone involved in the English department have to go on the trip" I asked trying not to sound like I cared too much.

"Yeah I think your dad was going to take the new professor...Mr Fitz" she replied smiling.

"How long is dad going away for?" I asked thinking of how long I had to be away from Ezra.

"A week I think" she replied before standing up and clearing the table.

A whole week without Ezra. I struggle getting through the day at best without him. I pulled out my phone and sent a quick text 'Good luck today, I'll see you after school to tell me all about it. I love you x'. I grabbed my bag, said goodbye to mom and headed to my car.

Ezra's POV
The first day as Professor Fitz. I walked into my new office carrying a box of personnel items to make my office feel more homely. I started to unpack and heard someone enter the door behind me. I turned around to find Arias dad Byron walking in and closing the door.

"Good morning Mr Montgomery" I greeted him holding out my hand.

"Just call me Byron" he replied shaking my hand. "So how are you settling in?" he added.

"Yeah just unpacking my stuff now. What can I do for you?" I asked.

"I hope you didn't spend too much time completing a class curriculum. While in New York on the weekend I met up with an old friend from Tainbridge and we have agreed to a meeting to inter great our English programs. We have to be in New York on Wednesday and won't be back till at least Sunday. I'll pick you up say 730 Wednesday morning?" He asked.

"Yeah sure see you then" I replied giving him a fake smile.

A whole week how was I going to tell Aria. I finished packing away my things and made my way to the teachers lounge to grab a coffee. I came back to my office to find Jackie sitting at my desk. I took a big sip of hot coffee and swallowed as it burnt my throat.

"What are you doing here Jackie?" I asked eyeing her suspiciously.

"Ezra you didn't reply to my message" she said putting on a pouty face.

"Um I swear I've told you a few times already. I'm seeing someone" I replied sternly. She stood up from my desk walked over and grabbed my tie and pulled me in close to her face.

"Ezra you were in love with me once, I can make you fall in love with me again. I made a big mistake letting you go and will do anything to get you back." She whispered before letting my tie go and walking out of my office.

I finished my first class I was so nervous but it became fun and went by in a flash. I loved teaching high school and now I knew college was going to be no different. At the end of the day I drove home and found Aria already in my apartment curled up on the couch reading a book. As soon seen me she jumped up run over wrapping her arms around me kissing me like I had been away for months.

"I could really get used to coming home to this" I said kissing her lips once more.

"I missed you so much, how was your first day?" she asked taking my hand and leading me to the couch.

"I have to go away on Wednesday and won't be back till Sunday. Other then that it was great" I said looking at the floor.

"Yeah I know" She replied sadly "so will you hold me for a while? I have to head off soon" she asked.

"Sure" I whispered as I wrapped my arm around her and she placed her head on my chest.
