I pushed Alex off of me and rolled straight off the bed onto the floor. I shoved my hair back from my eyes and glared at Alex.

"You're not the bad guy. Stop acting like it." I spit out at him.

"I'm just acting how you want me to." He lazily stood up fixing his hair where my fingers had just been in it and went into the bathroom closing the door hard behind him.

I heard the water turn on signaling he was taking a shower. For a moment I looked at the door, debating on trying to make a run for it. But his threat echoed in my mind from before. He's was too powerful, I didn't want him anywhere near my family or Sam's. So instead I quickly stripped out of my clothes and put on some clean ones.

I pulled back the covers claiming the other bed, instead of the one where Alex had been kissing me a minute ago, and climbed in. Though it was now completely dark outside, I wasn't tired in the least bit. Thanks to Alex drugging me this morning, I had already gotten plenty of sleep.

I stared out the windows where I had pulled the curtains back, and looked up at the night sky. I knew we weren't in the city anymore as I could see the stars not drowned out by light pollution. It reminded me of a night with Sam.

"Addy wake up." Sam whispered to me shaking my shoulder softly. I slowly opened my eyes and saw him leaning over me, curls flopping on his face where he had just taken off his mask.

"What?" I mumbled still mostly asleep, "Are you okay?" I asked now sitting up straighter fumbling with my blankets around my legs.

"I'm fine." He said, "Now come on." He grabbed my hand pulled me to the window in my room.

"Wait Sam are we going somewhere? I'm still in my pajamas I can't leave like this." I was disoriented and didn't know where we were going.

"It's two o'clock in the morning Addy, you're fine." Sam wrapped his arms tightly around me then moved to the window, paused, then jumped out. He quickly propelled us to the top of my apartment building and sat me down on the roof.

I was put of breath from the heart attack Sam had almost given, but was more out of breath when I looked around.

"Wow." I whispered out into the dead of night.

"I know." Sam said coming behind me and wrapping his arms around me protecting me from the brisk cold.

"There was a power outage." He said, "The whole city is out at the moment. As soon as it happened I knew I had to come show you."

The power outage had made the city dark, something it never was. And with the city dark, no lights shining below, we could see all the stars from the where we stood. I had never seen them in real life.

They stood out against the blanket of darkness twinkling down on us and rained against the silhouettes of the buildings.

"They're beautiful." I whispered in awe of the sight in front of me. I leaned my head back staring up into the night sky feeling more free than I had ever before.

I squeezed my eyes closed at the memory, pain blossoming in my chest as a single tear rolled out. I couldn't think of that, of him. It hurt too much.

I heard the water stop then a few minutes later the door open. My back was to him as I was still facing the windows. I listened to him rummage around and hoped he believed I was asleep, or at least would leave me alone even if he knew I was not. After a couple of minutes the lights went out and I heard him get into the other bed. I laid there wide awake listening to his breaths until they finally became even and deep. I turned over to look at him.
