I woke up to the sunlight streaming on my face that was peaking out from behind the blinds. I stretched getting up and went into the bathroom where I kept a spare toothbrush in one of the drawers. I made myself as presentable as possible using what I kept in my drawer. Since I mainly was one of the only people to use the room, except for at Thanksgiving when Sam's Uncle always comes over and stays with them, I had a drawer where I just kept some basic things. A hairbrush, a toothbrush, hair elastics, and face wash.
I went back and made the bed, and making sure everything was nicer than I arrived. I never wanted to take advantage of the Walkers. I know they loved me staying here, but I always try to make sure I am not any kind of hassle for them.
Leaving the bedroom I went down the hallway and cracked open Sam's door to see if he had made it home yet. He wasn't there. Sighing I pulled the door closed and headed into the living room to see who was awake.
"Good morning sweetheart! I made pancakes and I have a plate already going for you!" Mrs. Walker says to me from the kitchen.
I walk in and sit down beside Gabe at the bar where Mrs. Walker has a plate stacked with pancakes for me.
"Better hurry before I eat yours too." Gabe says.
"Oh hush Gabe you've already had seven, and you said you were full." Mrs. Walker scolds him. "Adriana if that's not enough dear I can make you some more." She then says to me.
"No, no this is plenty, thank you. They are delicious." I say already having taken several bites. Gabe reaches for a pancake on my plate and I raise my fork pretending as if I would stab him with it.
"Don't test me little man." I say to him and laughing he retreats his hand.
Mrs. Walker smiles at our antics. "I have to leave for work in about an hour." She says to us.
"Okay I'm going to go put on some fresh clothes then I'll probably be back so me and Gabe can hang." I say and Mrs. Walker winks at me.
I know she appreciates it when I stay with Gabe, and I always try to whenever they are both working.
I head out the door and start towards my house just five minutes down the road. Upon arrival I clean myself up a bit and change into some clothes for the day before heading back to the Walkers.
Huh I really am doing what he ask of me. I realize to myself. His home to my home to his home again. I hoped Sam could get the Machiavellian dude caught quickly. I didn't mind that being the only places I go normally, but when you're told that's all you can do, you automatically want to do more.
I enter the house and Mrs. Walker is gathering her things to leave.
"Goodbye Gabe!" She shouts up the stairs. "And goodbye honey." She says to me giving me a quick kiss on the cheek. She leaves out the door and suddenly the house is quiet.
I sit and enjoy the quiet for a moment. There always seems to be some kind of noise going on in the city. The moment is quickly over when I hear faint sirens outside, so I stand to go see what Gabe is doing.
I knock on his door and hear him faintly say come in. I open the door and walk in. Gabe was just laying across his bed on his phone. I didn't want to invade his privacy so I just extended an invitation to see if he wanted to be alone.
"I think I'm about to start a movie, and you're welcome to join if you want."
"Okay maybe." He replies distracted, so I shut his door and head back downstairs.
I rummage through the basket of old DVDs they have under the tv looking for something I want to watch and know Gabe will enjoy. I settle on an old rom-com I haven't seen in a few years about a baseball player, and pop it into the DVD player. Settling on the couch I watch the movie enjoying the distraction from thinking about the Machiavellian.
