Chapter 14: "Will you go to the dance with me?"

*Nelly's P.O.V.*
(A week after they killed the benefactor)

The school's New Year's dance is on the Monday when we come back to school from winter break. Everyone is excited about it. I haven't been asked yet but I'm hoping Stiles will ask me. Allison wants Scott to ask her, Elena is already going with Damon, Stefan is going with Caroline, Malia is going with Theo, and Lydia is going with Jackson. Bonnie, me, Stiles, Isaac, Liam, Aphrodite, Tyler, Scott, Allison, Kira, and Katie weren't asked out yet.

"Hey, Bonnie!" I said as I walked toward her. She was taking a walk by my new house.

"Hi, Nelly," she said with a wave.

"So, did anyone ask you to the dance?" I asked.

"Nope."

"Any guy who doesn't ask you out is so dumb. Don't worry about it. I think I can get you a date."

"Okay. As long as the guy is nice, good-looking, and cool then I'll go to the dance with him."

"then let's go find a date for you."

We walked to a park and looked for any guy who looked nice and all the things that Bonnie had described. Most guys had girlfriends already and some were just plain rude. After a while, we were beginning to think it was hopeless.

We stayed out until it was dark. By that time, we didn't know our way back home. The woods were really close to where we were and we saw a dark figure walking toward us.

"Um, Nelly? Do you see that?" Bonnie asked. Fear was easy to hear in her voice.

"Yeah."

I sniffed the air and recognized the person's scent. It was Derek Hale. He got closer to us and smiled.

"What are you guys doing out here?" he asked.

"We were looking for a date for Bonnie for the New Years dance at school," I explained.

"Is that date a pedophile or a creeper? Because that's the only people who are out this late."

"No. We were looking around when it was lighter outside."

"Can I take you guys home?" Derek asked.

"Sure," Bonnie answered.

Derek walked Bonnie to her house first. When we got there, she thanks me for trying to help her find a date and Derek for taking her home.

"If you're still looking for a date, I would be glad to bring you to the dance," Derek said.

"That would be great!" Bonnie exclaimed.

Next, Derek took me home. I teased him about Bonnie and he gave me a creepy glare. I stopped the teasing after that and kept the conversation to small talk.

"Do you have a pack?" Derek asked.

"I have a pack with my brother and Klaus Mikaelson," I answered.

"You're a hybrid, right?"

"Yeah. That's why they're my pack. They're the only other hybrids in existence other than me."

Scott opened the door before we could walk close to it. He asked where I'd been all day and I told him about how I tried to help Bonnie. Derek said bye and when he was a good distance away, I told Scott about how he asked Bonnie to the dance. He said that he shipped them together and I agreed.
