Today is Liam's birthday! He's really depressed about Aphrodite leaving, though. He hasn't wanted to talk to anyone for a while. I'm going to try to help him have a good birthday today. The two of us are just going to hang out at the beach together. It'll get his mind off things for a while.
'Ding dong'. I rang the doorbell on Liam's house. He opens the door and I can see the sadness in his eyes.
"Happy birthday!" I exclaim.
"Thanks, but I don't really want to talk to anyone right now." Liam says as he tries to close the door.
"Too bad. I have stuff in my car for us. I'm taking you to the beach. You're not going to make me get dressed and ready for nothing, right?"
"Of course not. Just give me a minute to get ready."
"Ok!" I say excitedly.
After Liam finishes getting ready, he comes out and puts a bag in the trunk of the car. He gets into the passenger seat after and sits down.
"Just know that I'm not happy with this. I am only doing this against my will," Liam complained.
"It doesn't matter. You'll have a lot of fun."
I start the car and back out of his driveway. There is a long silence as I drive and Liam turns the radio on. Now or Never by Halsey comes on and Liam starts to look sad.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"This song just reminds me of Aphrodite."
I listen to some of the lyrics and see his point. Lyrics: I'm turnin' off the light right now I'm callin' it a night now Wishin' you were 'round with me But you're in a different town than me We've been through it all But you could never spit it out for me Tryna talk to a wall But you could never tear it down for me, yeah
"I'm so sorry," I say as I change the channel. Next, Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee feat Justin Bieber comes on. I sing along to the lyrics and bother Liam. He laughs at me and I keep going.
"You know you look ridiculous, right?" He asks.
"Yep. I know you can sing too. Join me. Despacito this is how we do it down in Puerto Rico! I just want to hear you screaming Ay Bendito! I can move forever cuando esté contigo!" I sang.
"Fine. You convinced me, but I'll do it only this one time." He paused. "Pasito a pasito, suave suavecito. Nos vamos pegando, poquito a poquito! Hasta provocar tus gritos! Y que olvides tu apellido! Despacito!"
"You have a good voice, Dunbar," I teased.
"So do you, Lockwood."
A while later, we made it to the beach. I parked and we both got out of the car. Liam helped me bring our stuff to a spot in the sand by the shore. A couple groups of people were here too, but not too many.
I pulled a blanket out of one of my bags and spread it out onto the sand. Liam got the sunscreen out and started putting it on himself. I took my shorts and shirt off. My bikini was under it.
