Chapter 12: Adoption

*Nelly's P.O.V.*

I'm in the hospital with Scott, Liam, Stiles, Allison, Theo, and Malia. Lydia couldn't make it because she was going to help Katie with training to become a cheerleader. They were both helping each other so they could make it on the team next year.

"Aphrodite is in a coma because she had a bad concussion that was left untreated. It caused seizures that led to her being in the coma," Melissa McCall explained.

"Is she ever going to wake up?" Liam asked.

"We don't know yet. She is stable, though. That's a good sign."

"I can't be here. I-I have to go. She saved my life and I can't see her like this," I said as I walked out of the hospital room.

"Are you okay?" Stiles asked me.

"I will be once she wakes up. What if we give her some of my blood? It could heal her."

"You could give it a try."

I went back into the room with Stiles following close behind. Melissa let me give some of my blood to Aphrodite by injecting it into her. Malia said that she sensed Aphrodite getting better.

Suddenly, Jordan Parrish walked into the room and asked for me. I followed him into the hall and he started talking to me. He said that I couldn't live with Tyler without a legal guardian because he wasn't eighteen yet.

"Where will I live, then?" I asked.

"The sheriff said you could live at his house until you and Tyler are adopted," Parrish explained.

"Adopted?! How am I going to get adopted?"

"We have requests already from parents who want to adopt you two."

"I don't want to be adopted by strangers!"

I stormed out of the hospital and ran to Stiles' jeep. I got in and covered my face with my hands. What am I going to do? Ring. Ring. I heard my phone ringing. Tyler was calling.

"Did you hear the news?" He asked.

"Obviously! What are we going to do?"

"I don't know. Alaric said he could move into our house, so we could keep it. but he could only adopt one of us for now. He didn't want the girls to be in constant danger."

"But they're vampires!"

"I know. Look, I got him to agree to adopting me because you have somewhere to stay and I don't."

"So I'll have to be adopted by someone else? Seriously?"

"I'm sorry sis. I had to."

Tyler hangs up and I burst into tears. Who would want to adopt a hybrid teenager who almost got herself killed?

*Scott's P.O.V.*

"Did you hear what I told Nelly?" Parrish asked.

"Yeah. We'll try to help her in any way we can," I said.

Parrish nodded and left. After that, the room was silent. No one knew what to say. I thought about how we could help Nelly, and I got the perfect idea.

"Hey, mom?"

"Yeah?"

"Can you adopt Nelly?" I asked.

"I really want to help her, but I don't have enought money to support two kids," she answered.

"I bet Stefan or Klaus could help with that. Can I at least ask?"
