"Christine Daae how truly amazing to see you again." Christine turned to see the man she had spied earlier striding confidently towards her. She smiled "Roul, it's been years,"
"You don't seem happy to see me." He smiled in return.
"Oh... I am, I was just planning to... I had organised to meet a friend after the show."
"Well you have, a very old friend, who would be delighted to become reacquainted with his childhood sweetheart."
Unheard by him Christine cursed under her breath. It wasn't that she wasn't exited to see her old friend, she did want to spend time with him, but she had other plans, with another friend, and she didn't want Roul to get in the way, it would be too dangerous for him. "My friend will be... upset if I don't see him..."
"A man is it? Then I shall have to duel him for your fair company." At this Christine couldn't help laughing, "you clearly haven't grown up as much as you pretend. Ok, I suppose I can rearrange with my other friend, let me just write him a note and I'll meet you in the foyer."
"Of course." Roul knelt down and pressed his lips into her knuckle, and with that sweet parting he was gone.
She hurriedly scribbled out a note and slipped it into it's usual collection point, "I'm sorry Eric..."
