Darcie's POV:

I smiled when Jake and I reached our lunch table, taking a seat beside our friends. On our table was all of us, pretty much the whole family. Even though I'm not related by blood to some of them, we act as if we're just a group of siblings, we're that close.
" So how's the first day going? " Alex asked me, as I looked over the table to face him and Lola.
" yeah, do I need to beat anyone's ass yet? " Jack asked, as Dylan punched his arm playfully.
" no, it's actually going well... " I shrugged, taking a bite out of my food.
" you should've seen what Darcie said to Louise! Everyone was cheering her on too, I was surprised " Jake smirked, as I rolled my eyes with a laugh.
" wait... you stuck up for yourself? " Naomi almost choked on her sand which, coughing a little after managing to speak.
" yeah, the whole reason I came back was so that I can prove to them that I can stand my ground and not let them get to me. So thats what I did " I smiled, as I saw my brother smiling happily from across the table.
" and nobody's been mean or said anything bad to you today? " Dylan asked, and I felt like I was being quizzed.
" nope, if anything people have been supporting me... so I don't get the sudden change " I chuckled.
" well, when you walked into the classroom most of the guys said that you looked hot, so maybe they just want to get into your pants " Jake said, as Alex spat out his water in shock, making it get all over mine and Katie's face.
" you bitch " Katie yelled, wiping it off her face in annoyance.
" who wants to get into your pants? " Alex repeated in anger, raising a brow and speaking clearly.
" no one " I said nervously, knowing that his over protective brother side was showing again.
Lola noticed, patting his shoulder and placing a quick kiss on his cheek to knock him out of it.
I mouthed a quick thanks to her which she chuckled at.
Just as Katie cleaned herself up, we looked up to the end of our table, noticing that two girls were now stood there. I was expecting a mouthful of abuse, but instead received a large smile. I didn't know how to react... two popular girls being nice to me on school property, things really have changed in the past couple years.
" Hey, I'm Cindy, this is Amber " Cindy introduced, pointing to the red headed girl in the back.
They were both very pretty and skinny, but not overly skinny. They looked fit and healthy, with a natural amount of makeup on their faces. Nothing like Louise and her orange foundation or sharpie brows....
" Hi " I said shyly, not knowing how to respond.
" we know that you're a great dancer Darcie, and we thought that we should invite you to join the cheerleading team... I'm captain " Amber smiled, a natural grin forming on my face.
I used to love the idea of being a cheerleader at school, but I never made anything of it. I know that I'm very flexible, since I do gymnastics and dance at the studio with Jamie every weekend, and have since I was a toddler.
" I'd love too! When's tryouts? " I asked, as Amber let out a little chuckle.
" oh you don't need to tryout, we already know that you're amazing! Just come after school tomorrow and we'll introduce you to the girls " Amber said, as I nodded in agreement.
I felt slightly disappointed at the fact that I couldn't do a normal tryout, but usually people would be glad to be in my position! I want to be treat normally, but this is fine I guess. All of my friends are used to this, getting extra stuff from teachers or students because of our family. They don't like it either, but they put up with it. We're the ' famous ' kids, but sometimes I wish they could treat us all normally. We're not even famous really, just well known on the internet. Of course I'm not ungrateful, so I took their offer happily.
" okay, thanks " I thanked them, as they smiled, waving slightly before beginning to walk away.
" we'll see you around then " Cindy said before leaving, and I turned to look at my friends with a confused look.
They looked shocked, but soon started smiling widely.
" this is great! You're actually making new friends in your grade! " Lola cheered, making me laugh.
" yeah but I don't get why people are suddenly being nice to me... I used to be hated " I shrugged.
" things have changed, bullying isn't exactly liked here anymore... it's usually the bully that gets all the backlash now, but Louise hasn't stopped... she'll always do it, so just ignore her, Darc " Katie told me, and I nodded at her words.
To be honest, I'm not in the mood to hold grudges. Something's telling me to forgive and forget... to forget about my past here at this school and start fresh. Of course Louise will probably never leave me alone, but I know to not let her get to me. I'm making friends, people are smiling at me in corridors, boys are being nice too, and so on. It feels weird, but I'm glad that I can actually go through high school without the constant fear of being punched in the hallway or shouted at in the gym.
" I'm happy for you, Darcie... but don't forget about your day ones " Jack joked, messing up my hair with his hand.
I slapped his hand away, laughing at what he said.
" I'd never forget you guys, you're all my family, so don't even think that... " I chuckled.
Everyone continued eating their food, noticing that many people came to our table from time to time. People would smile at us, wave at us, and even say hi to me whenever they passed. I didn't know where all of this came from, but I'm not complaining. Forgive and forget, that's what I'm going to do.
