elena

Her name was Elena. Niall recalled as he stared at the ceiling while laying down. It's been a month and a half now, and still, Niall can't forget anything. He's still sad and lonely, and everything else seems lifeless to him.

Since the interview, Niall's been staying at his flat and never leaving once. Not until after he broke down after the show. The other lads had tried to cheer him up, but nothing works.

Then there was a faint knock on the door. Niall tilted his head and spoke loud enough for the person to hear. "come in."

Harry came in, his hands jammed inside his jean pockets and he has a silly grin on his face. Niall forced a small smile and went back to staring at the ceiling. Harry sat down on the foot of the bed and started to talk.

"At least talk to me." Harry said quietly.

"I don't have anything to say." Niall answered blankly, his eyes never leaving the empty space.

Harry sighed and sat closer to Niall. "You do."

   "What?"

Niall sat up slowly and looked at Harry. At that very moment, Harry realized how bad it is. How heartbroken Niall really is. He could see it in his eyes and the way he sat up, his shoulders dropped down. Niall's face was paler and more dull, and Harry already knew how broken he really is.

"Tell me about her." Harry suggested, and he could've sworn that when he said that he saw a part of Niall die. "I know it's hard, and none of us have ever met her. But keeping it all inside won't help either. Maybe when you tell me something, you'll feel better." But Niall only looked at him sadly. "It's easier to accept than to forget." Harry tried again. And Niall nodded his head.

Harry made a small grin. "What's her name?"

   "Elena."

   "Last name?"

   "Morris."

   "Describe her."

Niall let out a breath and looked down. He didn't know where to begin. Just thinking of her was enough to make him speechless.

A tear rolled down Niall's cheek, but he quickly wiped it off. He looked back at Harry and grinned.

"She's beautiful. And not the kind of beautiful you see everyday. Something special. She's lovely and sweet, and smiles even though it's raining. She accepts hate and doesn't take compliments. She says she's okay even though she's clearly not. She's wonderful, and I don't even know where to begin to explain why. She looks at everything differently. She's insecure yet she's flawless. And I don't understand why she hates herself. She's simple, yet elegant. She's not scared to be witty and be herself. She's everything that is beautiful and great. And those words aren't even enough to describe her yet." Niall smiled and looked down again. "She's my happiness, she's my whole world. And I love her so much."

Harry felt his eyes get watery and he hugs Niall. Niall starts to cry and let it all out, and Harry does nothing but pat his back and hug him, and just let him break down for a moment. Because that's what he needed.

"I just wish I never let her go." Niall sobbed.

   "I know Niall, I know."

"I wish I treated her better."

   "I know."

"And I wish I understood her more."

   "I know."

   "I miss her so much."

Harry nodded and held him tighter. "I know."

Once Niall was stable again, Harry pulled away.

"I'm sorry." Niall said. But Harry only smiled and shook his head.

   "It's fine."

   "Thanks Harry."

   "Anytime."

They stayed silent for a while until Niall spoke again. "Sometimes I just sit and think; why am I so stupid?" Niall sighed and dropped his chin.

   "You're not."

"But I am." He said looking at Harry again.

"Niall I think that when something terrible happens, it's only because something better will." Niall sighed and nodded.

He couldn't think of anything else but Elena and how they were before, and lastly how everything ended so quickly. And Niall thought, maybe Harry was right. But he still couldn't get himself to move on.

Harry left a little later and Niall was left alone with his thoughts again. He roamed around his flat, trying to get his mind distracted. And as of the moment everything was blank.

Then Niall went outside to get the mail. It was something he hadn't done for weeks now, and he thought maybe it would somehow lift his spirits up. Maybe he'd get something from home or get an exciting package. But he only saw bills and taxes. Niall went back inside and placed the bills on the table, and as it scattered, he saw a different envelope. It was light purple -like lilac- and had a sweet scent sprayed  on it.

He looked at the opposite side of the envelope and his heart almost stopped from what he saw.
