The Adopted Sister

Chapter 8

Daniella's POV

We sat in front of the headmistress' desk. She walked and sat behind her desk.

"Don't worry, you both are not in trouble," she says.

Both Clarice and I relax.

"But I do need help. We don't have enough money for this year's prom. I know that since you both organized the first ever homecoming here, I figured you might come up with an idea that will help us get the money."

"Actually, we were here to ask about having a Sadies dance," Clarice says.

"Explain to me what a Sadies dance is," the headmistress replies.

"Well, Sadies is basically a girl's choice dance. The difference is that it's more casual and all you have to do is have matching outfits," I explain.

"Okay, do you think that you can have it done in two weeks?" she asks.

"Of course," I say. The bell then rings signaling that Clarice and I are late for registration. 

"Here are your passes," the headmistress says handing us our late passes. "You are both now free to go."

We both get up and head to our registration class.

"Nice of you to join us Miss Sahyounie and Miss Luna," our registration teacher says. "Passes or is it a tardy?" We hand him our excuse passes and take our seats. 

"Hey, what took you guys so long?" Andre asks.

"Got held up at the headmistress' office," Clarice replies.

As the two talk, I look down at my notebook and start writing down lyrics.

"Okay, so we have a new student. Please introduce yourself," our registration teacher says. I keep looking down at my notebook.

"My name is Adrian Bloom, and I moved here from America," the new student says. Why does that name sound so familiar.

"Okay, your seat is next to Daniella Sahyounie. Miss Sahyounie please raise your hand," our teacher says.

I look up from my notebook and raise my hand. I just look mindlessly in space until I feel a presence next to me. I put my hand back down and go back to writing lyrics until registration is over.

"Hey, I'm Adrian," the new guy says. I look up and turn to him. "Batgirl?" he whispers.

"Superman?" I ask.

"Haven't heard that name in a while," he says.

"It really is you," I say in an excited tone. He gives me a hug.

"Yes, it's really me. I haven't seen you in so many years."

"I know. It's been 5 years," I say. He releases me from the hug.

"So how are you and Joel? Last time I saw you, both of you had major crushes on each other," he asks.

"We're dating now," I say. "What about you and Kelsey?"

"We're dating now too. She actually lives with me. We both got transferred here as a part of the foreign exchange program. So we are living with a family that we don't get to meet until lunch. Their kids go here," he explains.

"How long are you here for?" I ask.

"We're here for the rest of high school. So I guess between 2-3 years unless we end up going to university here," Adrian replies.

"What registration class is Kelsey in anyways?" I ask.

"The one in room 125. Why?" Adrian asks.

"That's the one Joel is in. I have to text him about it," I say getting my phone out.

Joel's POV

"Class, we have a new student. Please introduce yourself," our registration teacher says. I just keep writing down lyrics during the introduction.

"My name is Kelsey Danica, and I'm one of the two foreign exchange students from America," the new student says.

"Well, your seat is next to Joel Molina. Mister Molina, please raise your hand," the teacher says. I raise my hand until she is close by the table. I then go back to writing lyrics.

"Hi, I'm Kelsey," she says. That voice sounds so familiar. I look up. She looks so familiar. "Batman?" she asks barely in a whisper.

"Wonder Woman?" I ask in the same quietness.

"It's me," she says.

"I haven't seen you in years," she says hugging me.

"I know, it's been almost 5 years," I say as she pulls away.

"So how are you?" Kelsey asks.

"I'm good, how about you? Anything between you and Adrian?" I ask.

"Actually we now live together and dating," she replies. "And you and Dani?"

"We just started dating a few days ago," I confess. 

"I knew you would end up together," she says. 

"I gotta tell Dani about this," I say. My phone then vibrates signaling that I received a text.

'Superman is in my registration class and I think Wonder Women is in yours'

Wow. "Looks like Dani already knows," I say. "Let me see your schedule," I say.

"Wow, you're in year 11 math like Dani. Well you have every single class with Batgirl," I tell her.

"Yay!" Kelsey cheers.

The bell then rings signaling the end of registration.

"I'll help you find your way. I meet up with Batgirl before class," I say. Kelsey gets up and follows me. We head towards my locker. Well, Dani and I actually share a locker since I don't want her getting beat up by her's anymore.

The headmistress actually doesn't mind. She said something about foreign exchange students at the time I talked to her about it.

"So whose locker are we at?" Kelsey asks.

"Mine and Dani's. We share a locker now. I surprised her with it this morning," I reply.

"So Adrian and I have Dani's old locker I'm guessing. The headmistress mentioned something about having a locker opening since two students are sharing a locker," she explains.

"Well yeah," I say. We soon see Adrian and Dani walking towards us.

"Hey babe," I say giving Dani a kiss on the cheek.

"Hey," she giggles. "So you and Adrian have the same classes except for registration so you're showing him around."

"Well you and Kelsey have the same classes except for registration too, and you're showing her around," I say.

"Okay, well we better get going before we're late," Dani says. She gives me a quick peck on the lips. "See you at lunch."

We go our separate ways. As Adrian and I are walking, Sophia stops right in front of us. 

"Hi Joel," she says trying to flirt with me.

"I told you already that nothing is going to happen between us. I'm already dating Dani so just leave," I say.

"Well who's your friend then?" she asks.

"This is Adrian who also has a girlfriend so please move along," I say. Adrian and I walk around a shocked looking Sophia.

"Who was that?" Adrian asks.

"The school slut. Don't get involved with her," I warn him.

"Okay, glad for the warning. I mean she wears too much makeup. It scares me," he says. We laugh at that as we walk into class.

*5 minutes before lunch*

Adrian and I were just talking, mainly catching up on the past few years. A student aid then walks in with two passes and hands them to our English teacher.

"Joel Molina and Adrian Bloom," he says. We grab our stuff and our passes. Looks like we have to go to the headmistress' office. As we walk out, we see Dani and Kelsey walking out of the media classroom across from ours.

"Headmistress' office?" I ask. They nod. 

All four of us walk down. Once we get their, we see Daniel sitting outside of her office.

"What did you do?" Dani asks taking the seat next to him.

"I did nothing," he says.

The door soon opens.

"Please come in," the headmistress says.

We all pile in and take a seat.

"You are not in trouble," she says sitting behind her desk. We all let out a breath that we didn't know we were holding. "But, you will be living with them. Since Mister Molina's parents are in Japan for a business trip as well as Mister and Miss Sahyounie's parents being in Perth for for a business trip, Mister Bloom and Miss Danica will be living with the two households. Now, I expect them to be safe since both of your parents already know that they will be there."

We all nod.

"Before you leave, would any of you like to be apart of planning Sadie's along with Miss Sahyounie?" she asks.

We all nodded.

"Well, you will all be awarded with a free pass to get into prom along with one guest," the headmistress says. "You are now free to go to lunch." We all get up and head out.

"Superman, Wonder Woman, ready to meet our friends?" Dani asks.

"Yes please," they say in unison. Daniel then coughs.

"Oh, and this is my brother Daniel. Well, I'm the adopted on in their family," Dani says. "Skip, this is Kelsey and that's Adrian. They are friends of mine and Joel's from when we lived in the United States."

"Nice to meet you," Daniel says.

"You too," they reply.

Daniel then walks away to meet up with his friends.

"Time to go meet our other friends," I say as we all walk towards our table.
