Touchdown

Chapter XXIX

School was very different though. It was close to Valentine's Day and there were heart decorations all around the school.

"Man, the decorating committee definatly out did themselves this year. I wonder what they have planned?" I scoffed at Sammie. "Probably another dance of some sort. I mean, seriously. What is with the committee and dances? They are not the best and they are not that great."

Sammie rolled her eyes. "Last I remember, you enjoyed going with Axel to the dance. Who knows, maybe he will ask you out again." We both laughed a little and went to our lockers.

When I got there, Brittney was at my locker. "Ambrie, why the hell would you think a hot guy like Axel would be interested in you?" I rolled my eyes. "Bitch, I never said anything about that and trust me, I ain't a slut like you. Go ahead, ask him out. I do not care."

I saw Brittney smirk and flip her hair as she walked away. Sammie came up to me shortly after. "What was that all about?"

I shrugged. "She asked me why I was interested in Axel and I told her I was not. Now I will bet you 5$ Brittney goes up and asks him out on a Valentine's Day date."

Sammie glared at me but smiled. "I bet she doesn't and Axel asks Brittney out to make you jealous." I laughed. "You are so on Sammie." With that, we went to first hour.

Later that day, we saw posters now hanging up about a dance coming up in about a week or so. I swear though, I could feel the love in the air which was not a good thing.

I was secretly hoping no one asks me to the dance so I can just sit at home. I knew that was most likely not going to happen with Sammie around.

Of course to so surprise, Nolan asked Sammie to the dance. She of course said yes but then it quickly turned into a make out session. I gagged and. Went elsewhere to escape their PDA.

Sammie and I decided to stick around after school a little just for the fun of it. When we got out to the courtyard, Brittney was talking to Axel and Nolan. Sammie and I approached them as if Brittney was not there.

Axel and Nolan smiled at the sight of us. Brittney looked deep in thought before she said "Hey Axel. There was something I wanted to ask you."

She started twirling her hair as I stood behind her and mocked her. Nolan laughed a little and so did Sammie. Brittney glared at them and obviously did not notice me.

"Anyways," She continued, "I was wondering if you were going to the valentines dance. If so, would you want to go with me?" Axel took in a deep and sharp breath.

"As much as that would be an honor, I was thinking about asking this other girl who is super attractive, kind and funny. All the traits you are not."

Brittney's jaw dropped and I laughed silently to myself. Brittney shifted uneasily. "I am too funny! Watch."

Brittney went deep in thought. "Oh! What is short, idiotic, and has no social life?" Everyone looked confused. Then She continued. "The wander is Ambrie!"

Brittney started laughing hysterically. I saw no one was laughing and it made me a bit upset that she made that joke about me. Sammie looked at me with sad eyes but then they flickered to rage. I mouthed to Axel and Nolan before hand "I am sorry."

Sammie and I both tapped her shoulder and as she looked at us, I punched her in the jaw. "Brittney, I may have told you this once but you are an asshole who is self-absorbed and hates seeing others happy because you can not direct your own life!"

Sammie nodded her head in agreement. "You are also a bitch who picks on others as I could easily beat the shit out of you right now and ruin your life!" Sammie followed that with punching Brittney's nose.

I covered my mouth and tried to keep myself from laughing at the sight of Brittney whimpering on the floor with a now black jaw and a swollen nose.

Brittney went running off somewhere into the school and I told Sammie I was going to the park to cool off. I then went off leaving Sammie, Nolan, and Axel behind.

Sammie looked at me when I left. Axel sat there still dumbfounded. Sammie looked at him. "Axel, are you ok?" I was then brought back to reality. "Oh yeah. It is just, I did not know that Ambrie could put up a fight like that. I mean, That makes her even more attractive than before."

Sammie and Nolan both laughed until Nolan realized something. "Axel, We all know that you are head over heels for Ambrie but, what if she does not like you back or maybe, she does not know you like her?"

Axel kicked a rock. "Well, at this point, It is better off that she does not know that I like her. I may make it a bit obvious but coming from Sammie''s judgement, She probably has no Idea."

Sammie shrugged. "Depends. Ambrie may feel the same way Axel, but if she doesn't, what will you do?" He sighed. "I will keep trying until she realizes that she means the world to me."

Sammie and Nolan both sighed as Axel playfully punched them in the shoulder. After a couple more minutes of chatting, Axel, Nolan and Sammie all went home either to do homework or just to plain sit at home and watch tv.

I came home around 4:00 and decided to check my phone. There was 1 new message from Axel.

Axel: Hey I wanna ask you something.

I replied to the text.

Me: What is it that you need to ask me?

Axel: There is this girl I want to ask to the Valentine's Day dance but I do not know if she will say yes or no.

Me: Well, It is a 50% chance for either. Who knows? This girl of yours may say yes and not no. Who is the girl Anyways?

Axel: The girl is you Ambrie. Will you go to the dance with me?

I stared at the text in shock. "Holy shit. Was Axel actually asking me out to the dance?" I read the text again and he was for sure asking me.

I smiled a little and replied:

Me: Yes. I will go to the dance with you.
