Tom grumbles in annoyance, but his face was red, from either anger or crying. His mum already handled with insurance and the visit, standing out in the hall taking with the doctor, Tam standing by her.
"The cane might not be the best thing right now. He's thirteen and from his state, a guide dog would be better. We can get you to look at them tomorrow if you need to."
"But is he going to be okay? After the car accident the doctor said there could be a few other things!" Tam's voice was full of worry, something Tom rarely heard.
"Tamara, your brother will be fine, Thomas, as you have told me, relied more on the little vision he had left, than the cane, that could lead to more accidents and that's why I think the guide dog would be better."
"I'm worried for him. He's my son so of course I am, I should of prepared myself better for this."
"Your son will be fine, now, talk to him about the guide dog, and I'll see what I can do.l
"Okay, I'll talk to him, thank you Dr. Forge," his mum nods, walking back into the room with Tom. "Mum, in blind, not deaf," Tom mutters as she walks into the room.
"I know sweetie, so, we we're talking, and, do you want a guide dog?"
"I-I mean, I've wanted a dog, now I have an excuse to get one," Tom nervously laughs. "Tom are you-"
"No Tam! I'm not okay! I knew this was going to happen, but I wasn't prepared for it to be so soon! And it's funny like, why am I crying? I knew this was going to happen, I knew it was going to be like this, just when it really happened? Now? Before I could, I-I just, I still could," Tom stops himself
"Tom, you're being ridiculous, you've know about this happening since you were what? Seven? How we're you not ready? Why won't you let me-"
"Tamara Julie Rampton! Do not talk to your brother like that! We were not prepared for this either!"
"Mum, no, it's fine, um, can you get my cane? I um, kinda dropped it," Tom reached out for it as his mum hands it to him. "Thomas, you shouldn't let your sister lash out at you like that. Right Tamara?"
"Look mum, I'm worried! This is my brother, he already ran into sh*t all the time, what if he hurts himself worse?!"
"One; don't worry, we'll make sure that doesn't happen, and two; watch your language," their mum sighs. "Mum, can I just do that sighted guide thing he was talking about? Um, yeah."
"Yes, yes grab on to my arm," she smiles, Tom grabs on to her arm, as they start walking over to the car. "Here, get in," Tam opens the door for Tom as he gets in the car, buckling himself up, everyone else getting in.
"Tom, did you lie to us? The doctors said your vision wouldn't disappear that fast."
"I-I mean, I noticed my vision was getting worse, and that I had a harder time seeing, but what did you expect me to say? 'Guys my vision's getting worse'? You already know that!"
"You relied on the little-"
"How do you know what I relied on?! I did what the nurses said, closing my eyes to do certain things, wear the sun glasses which make it harder to see!"
"Okay well I'm sorry!"
"Thomas! Tamara! Stop fighting! Can't you two get along for a minute?! Tamara, don't just assume things, the doctor may have said it, but that doesn't make it true in these terms. Thomas, stop yelling at your sister!" Their mother yells in a stern, motherly voice.
"Yes ma'am," the two say, slouching in their seats. "Now, get some sleep, the drive is two hours, plus traffic," she sighs, Tom grabbing the blanket in front of him in the seat bin. He mumbles something to himself before closing his eyes to sleep.

~Dream/Flashback~

Tom and his sister jumped out of the car, they had recently moved to a new house.
"See Ell! I told you there were new kids, now you have to buy me some candy!" A kid on crutches smiles. "Fine, lets at least be nice and introduce ourselves," she walks over to the two, waving.
"Hello, I'm Elaina, this is my brother Edward, nice to meet you," she holds out her hand for them to shake. "Well hello, I'm Tamara, this is my older brother Thomas," Tam smiles and shakes her hand. "I would shake your hand but-"
"Edd, come on dude, you can shake hands," Ell rolls her hands as he laughs, taking his right hand out of the cuff to shake their hand. "So, yeah, I'm Tom, no need for formal a introduction-"
Tom gets cut off by walking into the lamppost. "Tom?! Oh my gosh, you have to me more careful! You're already-"
"I know! I know, I'm fine! I just, I just wasn't paying attention!" Tom cuts her off, taking a step back. "Are you okay? That was a hard hit," Edd cocks his slightly. "I'm fine!"
"Tom be nice."
"Whatever, heh, sorry, yeah I'm just Tom, no need for formalities," he rubs his head. "Does he do that a lot?" Ell looks at Tam. "He's-"
"Tammy please, not now!"
"Tom! Why are you fighting me about this, you ran into a lamppost don't you think that's going to make them suspicious! Why won't you let me say it!"
"Um, do you guys always fight like this?" Edd nervously laughs. "More recently than normal," Tom groans. "Now are you going to let me say it? Or are you just going to stop me again?" Tam puts her hand on her hip. "Fine, I don't care, I guess."
"Okay, so, Tom is going blind, due to an accident, so he sometimes runs into things, and ends up worry the rest of us," Tam sighs, and Tom looks like he was preparing for something. "Oh, okay? Um, sorry, I don't know how to react to that."
"It's okay, most people don't, ow, anyways, what school do you go to?" Tom mumbles. "Oh, I go to Dirdum's Junior School, they also have a Secondary School," Edd readjusts the grip on his crutches. "Wait, isn't that the disabled or, um, whatever they called it, school? Because, um, I'm going there," Tom scratches the back of his head.
"Ell, Edd, care to introduce me to the new neighbors?" Their mum walks up. "Hello, I'm Kathy, these are my kids, Tamara and Thomas," a woman with the same black eyes as Tom and Tam walks up.
"Ah! Hello, I'm Liz, and these are my kids, Elaina and Edward."
"Mum, you're treating it like a royal gathering, stop," Edd laughs. "Do you need any help unpacking, Ell and I could help with some boxes-"
"I can carry bags if you need some help," Edd speaks up. "Are you sure you can do that Edd?"
"Mum, I've used my crutches for five years, I think I can handle some bags," he smiles. "Of course you guys can help! That seriously would be a big help! The bags are in the trunk, and the boxes are in the moving truck with my husband and a few of his friends with the boxes as well," she smiles pointing to the car.
"Tamara, go help him, show him where to put the bags."
"Yes ma'am," Tamara and Edd go over to the car getting some bags out.
"If it wouldn't be a bother, could I ask what happened to put the boy on crutches?" Tom's mum looks over at Edd as he grabs bags, Tamara helping him out.
"When he was two, he had a little accident, though he didn't get the crutches until he was six," she smiles. "Mum I'm going to help with the boxes."
"Do you need help? Some of the boxes are heavy," Tom perks up at Ell's comment. "I'm stronger than I look don't worry," Ell smiles, Tom chancing after her to still help,

~Dream/Flashback Over~

"Tom! Tom wake up!" Tam shakes him gently. "Huh? Oh, um, okay," he stretches getting out of the car, going straight into his room, getting on his bed, pulling out his phone, using the voiceover setting to read his texts, it was one of the things his mom made him do. "At 12:50am, From Edd Gillions; Hey Tom you okay? At 1:01am, from Tord Lokken; Edd told me what happened, how did that happen?"
He smiles at his friends worry, texting them back as the voiceover reads letter by letter as he types back telling them he's fine, and that it was going to happen on way or another. "Tom?" Tam knocks on the door. "What."
"Can I come in?" She groan. "Fine," he mumbled back as she walks in closing the door. "Look. I'm sorry for yelling at you, it's just, I can't believe my brother is now, all blind, and that I-"
"Tam. I'm fine, please don't worry about me. Yes, I'm going to hurt myself, a lot, but it's a reality. Six years old, to thirteen, seven years Tammy," he fakes a smile. "Er, that was it, bye Tommy," she smiles, walking out.
