Aquila had just finished dinner- which wasn't too terrible- and was about to floo back to the Potter's when Lily joined her in the fireplace. When the green smoke disappeared, Aquila turned to Lily with a questioning look.
"What was that, Lily?" She inquired. Lily shrugged.
"I couldn't stay in that house for another minute. Petunia was wanting Vernon to come over and I wouldn't have survived with both of them in the house." Lily shuddered.
"Dear Merlin, both of them? I would've fled too. Well, come on. They'd love to have you. I have to tell Mrs. Potter you're here." Aquila said. Lily nodded and the two girls went towards the kitchen where the Potters were supposedly still having their Christmas dinner. As soon as they walked in Sirius brightened considerably and grinned, while Euphemia smiled.
"Aquila, how was dinner with Lily?" Fleamont asked. Aquila shrugged.
"Not bad, not good. Petunia was being an arse, as per usual." She responded making Lily laugh. James gave her a pointed look.
"Does she ever do anything else?" He joked.
"Yeah- sometimes she's a bloody pig," Lily added. Sirius chuckled and Aquila moved to sit next to him, leaving Lily with sitting next to James.
"You should join us for dinner next year, Lily," Euphemia said. "We would love to have you." Lily looked sheepish while Aquila gave her a pointed look.
"Told you," Aquila stated. Lily rolled her eyes but looked at Mrs. Potter.
"I would love to, but I don't think my Mum would like it that much. She's already weird whenever I come over just for a bit."
"Why? Because you have friends? Yeah, how weird." Aquila snorted.
"Merlin, Sirius, look at the time... you need to get back home," James said, making Sirius groan.
"Do I have too? I know Mother and Regulus won't miss me. Father either." Sirius protested.
"Maybe not, but you still have to go. You know what happens when you don't," Aquila said sadly, giving him a sympathetic look. Sirius sighed and nodded.
"You're right. I hate it, but you're right. Alright, I'm going." He said, heading to the fireplace, Aquila close behind. James and Lily watched them go as Euphemia and Fleamont shook their heads.
"Well," Euphemia said, interrupting the silence that has overtaken the kitchen, "I'm going to turn in for the night. Lily, dear, it was lovely seeing you again. James, don't kill anyone without letting Aquila or I know. Tell her I said good night." James smirked and nodded.
"Thank you for having me, Mrs. Potter," Lily said, smiling at the older woman.
"Of course," Euphemia smiled back, leaving the room. Fleamont sighed and got up.
"I guess I'm turning in as well. James, we're serious when we say not to kill anyone." He reiterated with a stern look as he too left the room. Lily gave him an odd look.
"Have you killed someone before, Potter?" She questioned, shocked. James shrugged.
"That's classified." He said casually as he left the room with a grin, leaving Lily slightly uncomfortable.
"Sirius, we only have a moment before everyone leaves the kitchen, so I just want to do this," Aquila stated as they walked to the fireplace. Sirius looked up in confusion to see Aquila with a determined look on her face. She did a single nod before closing her eyes and kissing him on the cheek. Sirius grinned and Aquila blushed and was quick to run away, but not before giving him a wave goodbye.
A few days later it was time to return to Hogwarts. Aquila was meticulously packing her things, making sure she had everything she needed for the remainder of the year when a knock sounded on her bedroom door. She made a sound in response and the door opened, revealing Sirius and James, shaking their heads.
"Did you make a list too?" James said, gesturing to the quill and parchment laying on her bed. Aquila didn't even look up, just nodded and continued what she was doing.
"What's it to you, Potter? Not all of us are as disorganized as you, you know." She stated factually. James rolled his eyes and Sirius snickered.
"Whatever. We came to tell you that we're leaving in a few minutes, so I suggest you hurry up. And if you're so organized, why are you just packing today?" James questioned. Aquila sighed and turned towards him.
"Because I'm organized and a procrastinator. Now shoo so I can finish." She said, pushing them out of the room. "Now, where was I?"
A few minutes later, everyone was packed and ready to go. Aquila and Sirius were laughing in the corner of the living room while James waited for Euphemia to come down.
"Mum! If you don't hurry up we'll be late!" James called up the stairs.
"I'm coming, I'm coming. Can't a woman have a moment to get ready?" Euphemia complained. "Alright everyone, into the fireplace!" Aquila eagerly got up and took a handful of Floo powder, with Sirius close behind. As soon as they were gone, James and Euphemia left, and the house was empty once again.
"Slow down, Aquila! You won't miss the train!" James called to the girl's retreating figure. Aquila ignored him and kept pressing through the crowd, looking for a certain red-head.
"Lily!" She yelled as she caught a glimpse. Lily's head turned at the sound of her voice being called, and she saw a flushed but grinning Aquila.
"My favorite blonde!" Lily called back as she hugged the girl. Aquila laughed and the two walked onto the train together, leaving a confused Sirius and an annoyed James.
"Girls. Alright, Sirius, let's find the rest of us." James said as he led the way onto the train to their compartment, where the rest of them were supposedly waiting.
"Aquila, you have no idea how happy I am that its fourth year," Lily said excitedly after they had found a compartment on the train. Aquila cocked her head to the side.
"Why's that, Lil?" She inquired.
"Because Malfoy isn't here anymore, because we're another year older and wiser, because this is the year you and Sirius finally get together, because-"
"Hold on, what?" Aquila interrupted.
"What?" Lily asked.
"'The year me and Sirius finally get together'? What the Hell, Lily?"
"I didn't say anything that wasn't true." She smirked.
"Lily!" Aquila protested.
"Nope. Don't even deny it. We all know it's going to happen, we're just hoping on sooner rather than later."
"Who's 'we'?"
"Well, Sirius, are you excited?" Peter said as James and he entered the compartment. Sirius raised an eyebrow in silent question.
"Oh, don't be daft, Black." James rolled his eyes.
"What are you talking about?" Sirius questioned.
"Dear Merlin... you and Aquila! Today's the year you two get together!" Remus said, crossing his arms over his chest, grumbling under his breath.
"What the- we're not- you- what?" Sirius sputtered.
"You know what we're talking about, Sirius, don't deny it. Besides, we both know you want it, so what are you waiting for?" Remus said, raising an eyebrow. Sirius scoffed.
"You know that's for Aquila and I to work out, right?"
"Nonsense. It's for everyone else to work out. Now, settle in, boys, I've got a plan." James responded, leaning in close.
