"All Hail Cortana! May she live long and many a black cat cross her path! Anata wa kōunwoinoru, korutana! ("May you live with good fortune, Cortana!" in Japanese) " The crowd roared into the sky, celebrating the day when Cortana rose to power. In the midst of the celebrations, however, a young teen boy hid in the shadows, watching with mild disinterest. He was here for one reason, and it wasn't to watch the public frolic in joy from Cortana's power. He was here for the Choosing. The place that hosted the Choosing varied each year, and this year, it was in an old city from the Pre-Disease world, San Francisco. The people who lived here did a good job of fixing it up, after the Storms of 2056, where much of the city lay in ruins, and after the Great Earthquakes of 2087. Somehow, the Great Bridge, formally called the Golden Gate Bridge, survived without much damage. The young boy was currently housed in the place once referred to as the "Sunset". He was waiting in the busy "Downtown" area, waiting for the Choosing. He watched as the leader of the United Lands area, a 45-year-old male by the name of Nyco comes onto the stage. Well, saunters onto the stage, more like.
"Welcome to The Choosing! I am proud to say that this year, San Francisco has been chosen to host The Choosing! Today, two young teens will be chosen, and their lives will be forever changed. Let's get started! To my left is our male chooser, Damiyen. To my right is our female chooser, Reina. Ladies first!" Nyco booms his speech into the microphone, making sure everyone can hear. Reina slowly puts her hand into the bowl and fishes for a slip of paper, finally pulling one out. She doesn't read it out loud, of course. That will come after Damiyen grabs his slip. Damiyen grabs his slip, and Reina walks up to the microphone. She calls out to the crowd
"Flyer! You have been Chosen!" Reina then walks back to her place beside Nyco, and Damiyen takes her place.
"Antorn! You have been Chosen!" Damiyen walks to his place beside Nyco. Nyco then walks to the microphone and calls out to the crowd,
"Flyer Hu! Antorn Situ! You have been Chosen! Come up to the stage and receive your badges of honor!
