Day 1

As soon as the bell rang, I rushed to pack up my stuff and raced to the restroom. I only waited for a few minutes before Liam strolled in. He turned around and locked the door before facing me again.

“S-show me y-your palm.” I stuttered out.

He narrowed his eyes at me. “Show me yours.”

“I asked first.” I challenged back, smiling on the inside when I didn’t stutter this time.

He sighed. “Same time, ok?”

I nodded my head. Slowly we both took off our gloves and we both had to shield our eyes from the sudden lights that had entered the room. I peeked out at his hand and saw that Liam’s right hand had a glowing mark on it. His mark went from the base of his pointer finger to the other side of his palm.

When two soul mates meet, if they both carry the mark, the mark would be on opposite hands and on opposite side of the hands. That is because when the two soul mates find each other, they are supposed to connect their hands, connect the marks, and extinguishing the light. This shows that two soul mates will always be together.

And Liam Payne just so happens to be my soul mate.

“Wow.” I muttered out as I stared at his glowing hand. I leaned against the door and watched Liam, who stood a few feet from me, and continued staring at his hand. The glowing light was no longer an issue since we both gotten used to it by now.

“So, you are the one.” Liam said after a while.

“And you are my one.” I said and then cursed myself for sounding so stupid.

He chuckled. “You were a lot cuter and a lot more adorable then I was expecting.”

I blushed at his words. “You’re a lot hotter than I was expecting. I was dreading that my soul mate would be some ninety year old women. But now, I am thanking the heavens that it is you.” I was bold with my words because I no longer feared saying something stupid. I found my soul mate, I should not fear looking stupid in front of him.

He laughed again. “I honestly thought I would never find my soul mate. Then I started getting this itch in my hand lately and that’s what led me to you.”

I smiled softly and kicked myself off the wall. “Well, I for one am glad that you found me Liam.” I said as I walked over to him. I went to reach for his hand so I can connect our marks together and seal the deal, when Liam jerked his hand back and hid it behind his back. My eyes widen in shock at his sudden action.

“Niall, I can’t accept you as my soul mate.” He said quickly.

Those nine words caused something to break within me. It wasn’t just my heart that just broke, something much deeper within me had broke, yet I couldn’t tell you what it was. “W-why?” I stuttered out.

“Niall, it’s not you. Please don’t believe that I’m not accepting you because of you. I can’t accept you because I am in love with another. I met her a few years ago, her name is Danielle, and I’ve been in love with her ever since. She doesn’t carry the mark like us and you know, just one day I was hoping my mark would glow for her.” He explained.

“B-but what about f-faith? F-faith picks our s-soul mates for us. I-I’ve never heard of s-someone rejecting their s-soul mate.” And the stutter is back.

“That’s why she rebel against faith. WE should be the ones that pick our own soul mates, not faith! Why can’t we pick the people we are supposed to spend the rest of our lives with? Why do we have to have someone picked out for us? It doesn’t make sense! That’s why we should fight against them, Niall!” He exclaimed at me.
