Clarke
Lexa handed me a latte and held hers against her lips. Usually I'd go to lunch with Finn, but he's poked out of work for a few hours, to visit his sick sister, he'll be back after lunch even though Octavia urged him to take the rest of the day off to be with his sister.
My workload was piled up above my nose, so you could say I was drowning. Statements, documents, files, the list of chores was endless.
Head spinning, I gratefully sipped the latte and Lexa shook her head at my crazy chicken-in-a-cage look, with my hair looking like a birds nest.
"What happened to you?" Lexa quizzed, poking my blonde flyaways until they calmed down to match my head level and ponytail.
"I've been frantically running from here to the bank and back, there have been some errors in the financial assets and liabilities statement," I explained.
"I have no clue what you just said, but okay."
I laughed, "of course you don't, but when do you ever understand anything?"
"True. Looks like a few hours without Finn and you look like someone grabbed you by the ponytail and flung you around in circles, aye Trunchbull where you at," she clicked her fingers waiting for me to get the Matilda reference.
"I'll be in my grave if I don't get this all done, Bellamy Blake spares no one, I'd rather face Miss Trunchbull."
Lexa rolled her eyes. "Speak of the devil."
My head rotated slightly to see Bellamy walking through the offices with a coffee in his hand, talking to the pretty redhead from before.
I nudged Lexa, "who's that?"
Lexa stretched her head so she could get a better look. "No clue, I've never seen her before, perhaps a new employee?"
Quinn followed Bellamy and the redhead, looking in all directions like he had done something wrong. His green eyes darting from side to side.
The redhead turned around for a split second to make sure Quinn was behind her, before heading into Bellamy's office. She to, had striking green eyes.
Mystery lady reminded me so much of Merida from brave, she had rosy cheeks and wild, curly, fiery red hair that contrasted her green eyes. Her style was sophisticated like Octavia, and her face slender and beautiful, just like her figure.
No wonder she's with Bellamy. Any man would love to have her.
Lexa's eyes widened. "Isn't she gorgeous! I have a huge crush and I saw her for point five seconds!"
"Suppose so, but she's got a kid."
"It doesn't bother me, but I doubt she'd be interested in woman."
I glanced up at the huge elegant wall clock so big it could be mistaken for a goddamn UFO, and found that my break was over.
"Hello, what did I miss?" Finn waltzed in and stood next to me.
Pouncing up like a jack-in-a-box, I gave him a smooch on the lips, "I'm so happy you're back!"
"Get a room kids." Lexa groaned and returned to her desk.
Finn pushed me away quickly, looking super uncomfortable. Luckily no one had seen us, I had forgotten he doesn't like being seen.
"Sorry," I mumbled.
"It's fine, just don't do it again. I was only gone for a few hours," said Finn.
"You know I can be a little extra sometimes," I said in my defense. "How's your sister?"
"She's fine, the doctor said it was just an allergic reaction, she got stung by a bee for the first time yesterday. She's gonna be sent home tonight."
"That's great to hear, I'm glad she's okay."
"Maybe you can meet her one day, and my parents too," he said.
"If they're as egoistical as you, then no thanks," I joked.
"Shut up! I'm NOT egoistic!" Finn covered his face and threw a file at me.
"Hey! Domestic violence!" I pouted. "Would you really hurt me Finn?"
Finn rolled his eyes, "such a drama queen. We need to get back to work before Bellamy comes out to see us not working and then everyone really gets to see a show."
"I'd much rather have you be my boss," I said quickly.
Finn smirked, "is that so?"
It came out rather kinky and not like how I had actually meant it.
But when I thought of it like that, it sounds like my boss can do anything to me.
Wow okay, why are you even thinking about this Clarke. Normal people don't think about this, but then again when have you ever been normal...
"Clarke!" Finn waved his hands in front of my face. "I said, would you like to come for a walk around the lake tonight, at dusk."
"Uh...yes sorry! That sounds lovely!" I blurted.
"Great, it's a date." Finn tipped an imaginary hat like a gentleman and went over to his desk on facing me a few desks away.
He always looked up at me every once in a while, and I'd secretly stare at him working. It may also be one of the reasons I'm so behind on my work. Finn is hard to not look at, and I swear when I finally get into it, I can feel his gaze on me from a few desks away.
Lexa, who's desk is directly next to mine, wheeled her chair over to me.
"I'm going on a date tonight!" I said enthusiastically.
She forced a smile that faded away quickly. "Clarke, promise me you'll be careful."
"What do you mean?" I lovingly stared at Finn, who flashed me his famous smile that makes me go all tingly.
"With Finn. I've known him a lot longer than you and I just want to say, be careful. I haven't got anything against him or anything, but he has a reputation for being a player."
Lexa's voice was annoying me at this point. I didn't want there to be any truth in what she was saying so I blocked her out.
All I could hear were her mumbles, that sounded like some strange alienated rhythm.
"So that's all I'm saying," Lexa finished, and got back to her work promptly.
Raven seemed to have a problem with our relationship, and now Lexa? What is everyone's problem these days? Do they not want me to be happy?
I couldn't process the fact that they were saying things out of concern. Where they jealous?
Whatever the reason, no one was going to get in the way of Finn and I. I was going to try and make this work, because no one made me feel the way I felt with Finn.
