Clarke

The air felt warm and humid for once. It was almost sunset and I was waiting beside the lake, dressed in a nice blouse and skinny jeans, waiting for my Romeo.

Finn was nowhere to be seen, so I decided to have a closer look at the lake. It was a gorgeous lake, not overly big but not too small either, so you couldn't see parts of it because is had a wavy bank.

Reeds dotted the edges where many animals hide away at night. This place is probably thriving with life in the daytime, but as nightfall settles in, they all go back home.

The sun started to set and I started to wonder if Finn was going to turn up or not. I decided to flick him a text or call him.

Shit, my phone is flat. Great. Fantastic. Phenomenal.

I shoved it back into my pocket in frustration. I'll wait a little while longer.

Half an hour later, it had gotten late and Finn hadn't turned up. Maybe I was missing a piece of information, did he say where?

He just said "at the lake". There was no specific place.

My heart sank with disappointment, I had come all the way out here only to be stood up by my boyfriend.

Because I'm a little extra (and everyone knows it) I crossed my arms and threw a mini tantrum on the spot.

Releasing all the anger in the most non-violent way possible, I started walking around the lake.

Since I'm already here and have wasted so much time, might as well.

I started to calm down instantly, the Stars dotted the skies in their millions, flashing dimly. I once learnt that the flash was actually the planets circling the star, just like our planet circled our star, the sun.

It was fascinating that essentially, when our sun goes down, many other Suns in the galaxy start to show. I had always taken a great interest in astronomy.

So many planets out there to be explored, most likely heaps of other life forms. I couldn't even begin to open my mind at all the wonder, yet to be discovered.

Being an accountant was my dream job, but so was being an astronomer. Sometimes I wish I had pursued a different path, then maybe I could have helped discover those uncharted solar systems.

But I was happy with where I was, how far I had come with my job. No matter how intolerable Bellamy was, he paid me well, and I had great friends like Lexa by my side, a loving boyfriend like Finn.

Who didn't show up.

He would've showed up, but maybe he was caught up in something?

He didn't show up.

"Shut up!" I yelled into nothingness, the stillness of the lake unchanged by my voice.

I continued walking but then I heard something. Was that...laughter?

Someone was at the lake, around that next bend. I could hear male and female voices. I decided to investigate.

I turned the bend. Bad place to be because it was open space, so no where to hide and spy from. I had to just pretend I was walking by and minding my own business.

"Clarke?" A familiar female voice echoes through the night.

"Octavia?" I squinted. The moon lit the water and there was Octavia, in the water in her swimwear, next to what seemed like the redhead from before. My suspicions were cleared when I saw Quinn squealing and turning the corner, plunging straight into the cool water.

Time went in slow motion for a few seconds as I tried to see what he was running from. Bellamy emerged from the reeds, shirtless and in his swimming trunks. His perfect toned body looked even more perfect in the moonlight.

My face heated as I forced myself to look away from him.

That's your boss you idiot, and you hate him remember?

Bellamy approached me and I braced myself for some stupid comment or criticism. Or no acknowledgement at all perhaps.

To my surprise, I was greeted with a simple, low-voiced 'hello'.

"Hey," I replied.

Bellamy stared at my face with stone eyes. "What are you doing here alone at this time of the evening, Princess?"

"Just chilling..." I winced slightly at the nickname.

What a lie, Clarke.

"Are you going somewhere?" Octavia cut in, as she rose from the water, flicking her hair back.

"No, just thought I'd go for a walk." My eyes kept drifting back to Bellamy's abs.

Damn son.

"Why don't you join us?" Octavia suggested.

"No thanks, and besides, I don't have any swimwear."

"You don't need one, strip if you want we don't mind. Or if that's too weird then jump in with your clothes on, I have spare clothes in the car."

I hesitated. Octavia's eyes twinkled and Quinn smiled at me, not looking scared of me for once. Even the redhead, who I thought looked like a posh and snobby lady, looked rather friendly.

Or maybe it's the light and I'm imagining it all.

"I don't know..." I didn't want to admit it, but I really liked the idea of swimming in the lake with them.

"Come on, it's tons of fun!" Quinn squeaked. The kid was adorable.

While my mind was still processing, Octavia rolled her eyes and nodded at Bellamy, who was still standing behind me.

Two strong hands wrapped around my waist, as I gasped in shock. I could feel Bellamy's torso against my blouse, and he lifted me off the ground and flung me into the water next to Octavia.

His grip was firm but not painful, and the air whipped across my ears at his touch, and my heartbeat pulsed in my brain.

Bellamy jumped in after me and I ended up laughing. Octavia splashed me with water, but my eyes were focused on one person.

Bellamy rose from the water, breaking the surface. The water seemed to part and move out of the way for his God-like body to blow through. Like he was Poseidon. The moon sculptured every inch of his muscle and he pushed his black curly hair that's usually slicked back with gel, away from his face. It dropped tiny water droplets.

My eyes must've diluted or something, because the redhead swum next to me.

"Checking out my cousin I see. They all do it," she said rolling her eyes.

Wait. Did she just say cousin?

"I'm so sorry, where are my manners!" Octavia hit her head with her palm as she swum over to us. "Clarke, this is our cousin, Alice and her son Quinn. Alice, Quinn, this is Clarke, our accountant at Blake Industry Offices," she introduced.

"Nice to meet you Clarke." Alice smiled. Her crazy curly hair was heavy and flat from the water. "Quinn, come say hello."

Quinn approached me, "hello Clarke."

"Nice to meet you Quinn." I shook the little boy's hand. "And Alice of course."

Bellamy came over to join our little circle, and Quinn immediately jumped onto him, asking him for a piggy back.

Bellamy smiled and the kid climbed onto his back.

It was the first time I had seen him smile.

A/N: So Clarke got stood up by Finn! Did he have a valid reason? She also found out who the redhead was...

Next chapter is in Bellamy's point of view, and things get complicated.

Don't forget to vote and comment, I'd highly appreciate it!!
