The Prince of the Ocean - The Forbidden Romance

Chapter 9

" Triton are you confident that your plan will work , is it possible to save the mermaid from the impending threat ? " Bruilo questioned me .

I could understand the cause of his worries, one fatal mistake could eventually lead to bigger consequences in the future .We had to risk it , there was no other possibility to rescue her .

" OK , now we need to go ahead with the plan , you know what to do ,Brulio . "

Brulio nodded and went off , time to play my part . I went towards the back door carefully , not to draw any attention . Surprisingly , I had almost memorized the entire house and knew  there was a back door  .

I grabbed a nearby plant and began writing a note  to her  . I hope she gets it in time . 

 I waited but endless possibilities ran through my mind  . Would she destroy the note as it was received from a stranger ?  Or would she destroy it , thinking it was a dangerous weapon ? My thoughts swirled around and I began to panic .But to my relief , she opened the door .

Her Aquamarine eyes was filled with confusion .  I started to speak ,"I know it is a lot to take in but we must get out of here , it's for your own safety . There are mermaid-nappers outside your home and we must escape quickly ."

Suddenly , there was an explosion .

"What was that ? ", she whispered .

"It's my friend , he is distracting them . We must hurry ,before they catch us . "

I held out my hand , giving her a choice . If she wanted she could come with me or prefer to stay put . It was her choice not mine . As much as I wanted to take her away to safety , I couldn't .

She glanced at the door and back at me . She closed her eyes and took a deep breath , I could understand her situation . It was like Janus offering her to make a choice , which is pretty hard .But finally , she made her choice , she grabbed my hand and we swam as fast as we could .

I willed the currents to take us towards the secret passage. But as we were about to reach our destination , trouble intertwined .

A group of rebellious sea monsters appeared , they had joined the dark side . My Father and I tried reasoning with them in the past but it was no use , the lust of greed had overcome them .

"Prince, give ussssss the girl, you will be sssparred  " A sea monster with snake head and body of octopus said . These creatures , they weren't supposed to be here . They were sent to the pits of Tartarus . Fear gripped my heart but I couldn't do anything . 

I looked back at her , she locked her eyes with mine . I knew my decision .

" Never ." I gripped the Maiden's hand tighter , I wouldn't risk another life for my safety .

"Well in that case you give ussss no  choice , " The monsters charged towards us . Their poisoned claws ready to tear us apart .

I took my sword and plunged it in the first monster . It roared with agony and it dissolved in the water .

What happened next surprised me .

The Maiden let go of my hand and tapped her bracelet which turned into a sword . She attacked the monsters , she was swift yet graceful . I never thought anyone could look beautiful while fighting , but she was surely an exception .I was so mesmerized by her skills, I did not notice a monster heading my way .She threw her sword and it hit the monster in the bull's eye .

" Don't be so surprised , Prince . Everyone needs to learn self defense ."

She took her sword and we attacked the remaining monsters together .

After we had defeated every monster , We found Brulio gaping at us .
