Chapter 9

Ava's POV

*Ding Dong*
The doorbell rings and I pause the movie. Shawn gets up and goes to the door. "HAHAHAHA JOEY!! Need some help??" I hear Shawn laughing so hard and I start laughing because well, his laugh is contagious. Shawn brings in two bags and the pizza guy, apparently named Joey, brings in one bag and the pizza. Shawn pulls out his money and pays. I give him a look like 'You don't have to pay for everything.' He just waves me off. Joey leaves and we hear footsteps coming down the stairs.

Aaliyah, Manny, and Karen all come down carrying suitcases. "Mom? Dad? Aaliyah? What are you doing?" Shawn questions. "Oh Honey we're going to go to Europe. Don't you remember us telling you? Since you're going on tour we decided to take a trip. Oh Honey." Shawn's mom tries explaining. "Oh ok. I love you guys. Have a good time." Shawn fakes a smile. They each hug and say their goodbyes. And they all wave to me as they walk out the door.

Shawn comes back with the bags and puts them on the coffee table in front of us. He goes back and gets the pizza and sets it on the table as well. "Shawnie what's up?" I ask knowing something is off. "It's just. Ugh. My family, they didn't even tell me they were leaving. I love them to death, but it seems like they always leave me out of things." He turns sad. "Aw Shawnie. It's ok. You know what? I'm going to go on tour with you. I'll do anything to go. I can't imagine my life without you anymore. It was too hard last time. I'll talk to my mom about online school. I love you Mendes." Maybe even more than a friend. I pull him into a hug and I can feel him smiling and I hear him sigh. "Thanks Ave. You really are the best friend I could ever imagine or have." I smile.

I pull the pizza up on our laps. We put it on top of the blanket. "Mmmm." I hum. The warmth is so nice. "Haha mmm" Shawn laughs and does the same thing I do. I grab a slice of pizza, pepperoni to be exact. My favourite. "Hey Shawn," I pause and swallow my bite of pizza. "Yah Ave?" "Thank you for paying for everything. And also thank you for inviting me to join you on tour. I haven't had the best time recently and you've helped me a lot." I almost start tearing up. But you know what? I'm better than that. "Ave, you deserve way more than that. You're so, so welcome though."

We cuddle up under the blanket and continue to watch Grease for a while. After 4 boxes of candy and 5 pieces of pizza I start to fall asleep on Shawn's chest as Harry Potter is playing in the background. "Good Night Ave." Shawn kisses my forehead and wraps his arms around me. I don't think he knew I was still awake.
