Faye
I starred at the sky, trying to process what I just did. I could hear the scream of Maggie but no gunshots. Negan knelt beside me, and I winched when his hand touched my shoulder. I saw the blood on his glove, and I sighed loudly, trying to keep my calm. "It's bleeding isn't it?" Negan nodded and it finally set in. I noticed the tears that were falling, but I was too concerned with the problem at hand. Negan got up from crouching next to me and turned to face the group. "This girl just made one of the shitty moves ever." He pointed his bat at Carl and my breath hitched. "Please." I cough out, trying to sit up. "But, because of how absolutely brave that stupid shit was, I'm gonna give her a pass." Negan turned to me and nodded at Dwight. "Take her to the doctor." Dwight started to walk towards me, but I shook my head, the tears falling harder. "Don't hurt the boy, please." My voice cracked, and Carl gave me a concerned look. "I know what it's like to want to hurt people, But please. He's only a kid, and I think you scared his dad shitless enough. Please."Negan stepped back away from Carl, and I realized something. Kids were his weakness. "Take her to the sanctuary. Kid goes with." I nodded at Carl, I wanted to protect him from losing his arm, who knows if after I left he'd cut it off. I saw the blood soak through the front of my shirt, and grabbed the ax, which had blood on it too. I handed it to Negan, but I made it very clear to let these people go. Who knows if he'll do it.
"You heard me. Get up, kid." Negan nodded to the RV, but Carl didn't move. Rick pleaded for Negan not to make Carl go, but the redneck spoke up. "He's in good hands, Rick. It's her." I looked back at the redneck, trying to figure out what he meant. Negan grabbed Carl by his shirt, lifting and shoving him towards the RV. I nodded to Maggie as we walked to the RV together after Carl grabbed his hat.
About fifteen minutes into the drive (after dealing with my shoulder which hurts like a bitch I might add) Carl broke the silence. "Who are you?" I looked up and shrugged. "I'm Faye." He nodded and stuck his hand out. "Carl." I smiled and grabbed his hand, shaking it. "Brave thing you did for me back there. You didn't have to do it." "I know what it's like to feel helpless in a major situation. Your dad looked so helpless, I needed to stop it." He nodded and fixed his hat. "Don't trust him." I furred my eyebrows in confusion. "What do you mean?" Carl sighed and looked at his shoes before glancing back up at me. "Negan. You don't want to become one of his people. Maggie needs you, she's been through so much. You can't leave her." I scoffed, clearly offended.
"I'm not an idiot. I know Negan is bad, but maybe I'm trying to figure out what makes him bad. I'm not leaving her, ever. I'm not someone who just shows up and leaves. I'm not a group person, I've been on my own since the start but if you think I'm leaving Maggie again? You're an idiot." I raised my voice slightly but still made sure it wasn't loud enough to where Dwight could hear it. "Listen, don't be just another face?" Carl signed and his hardened expression came back. "We don't have to be best friends, but if you're going to stick around we need to have some sort of rules." I laughed and shook my head. "Like I'd ever want to be your best friend." "My best friend just got killed. So I'm not asking you to be. Ever."
My eyes softened as the words left his mouth. "I'm so sorry. I didn't know." I spoke quietly. "Negan bashed her head in like it was nothing. And, I just watched it. And then you showed up, and of course, Negan was fucking open arms to you. But he killed another girl, just like you. So I hope he fucking kills you too," Carl's voice got louder and louder, and he stood up towering over me. "I hope that he makes you fucking miserable! I hope that Maggie throws you out because we don't need another mouth to feed, and we sure as hell don't need a girl who runs from her family," Carl took a step towards me and shoved his finger at my chest. "We don't need another Enid." I shoved his arm away. "Just leave me alone!" I felt tears well up in my eyes.
