~Staceys POV~

I looked around but didn't see Devin. Where could he be? And what was the noise? I scanned the garage with my eyes looking this way and that. But I don't see anything. All I could see was tubs, boxes, tools, junk stacked up high and my dad's old Camaro parked in the middle covered with a tarp. Man I need to have a garage sale, I thought to myself as I looked at the old bikes and miscellaneous stuff piled everywhere.

"Devin?" I finely said. And I heard a slight moan.
"Oh my gosh! Devin, are you okay?" I asked suddenly worried as I started to walk around the car looking to see if he was behind it.
"Well considering that I was just attacked by a stack of tubs and the floor of course, I'd say I'm not feeling all that great. But I'll live." He said as
I got around the Camaro and saw Devin on the ground just laying there holding his left hand to his head, which looked bruised.
"Oh gosh! What happened?" I said as I started to lift the heavy tubs of of him.
"Well the tubs decided they wanted to kill me. So the top one yelled charge and they all jumped me and had me pinned to the ground. It was a great battle between Man and Tub. Sadly Tub won, but I'll get them next time." He said as I was clutching my stumick from all my laughter.
"Why are you still on the floor?" I asked now standing over him.
"Well as silly as this will sound. I quite love the feel of a smooth concrete floor." He said with a half smile. I could tell he was lying.
"Uhuh. What's the real reason? Oh my Gosh! Can you not walk!?" I asked stupidly in sudden concern.
"No. I can walk. I'm just in some pain at the moment...  uh one of those tubs landed right on my downtown area. And so I'm just not really fond of the idea of moving at the moment." He said with a sheepish smile.
I placed my hands over my mouth to stop the laughter that was building up inside of me.
"Uh, can I get you something? Maybe some pain reliever or an ice pack?" I suggested.
"Uh I'm sure I'll be fine. Just give me a few." He said and I just couldn't help but chuckle.
"I heard that." He said giving me a playful glare.

"Feeling any better? I asked my hurt friend as he sat on the couch with a ice pack placed on his bruises.
"Other then feeling like an idiot sitting here like this, I'm okay." He said and I smiled at him slightly.

"What are you doing here in the first place? Besides hurting yourself and trying to fix my porch light." I asked

"I just wanted to get out of the house and do something." He said looking down at the floor.
"Is something wrong?" I asked seeing that he was upset about something that he obviously needed to talk to someone about.
"I called Jackie...." He said barely a whisper.
"What happened? What did she say?" I questioned.
"Basically that it's over...... She said that she never wants to hear from me again and to just leave her alone." He said.
"But I thought things where going so well between you two?.. Y'all were such a cute couple." I said as I was shocked to hear myself say that about him and some other girl.
"Apparently not.... She said that she couldn't be in a relationship with a guy who could never give her all his love..." He said putting his face into his hands as he slouched down into the couch.
"What does she mean by that?" I asked completely confused by that statement.
"I don't know. I asked her that same question and she responded by saying 'you know exactly what I'm talking about.' And then hung up. And when I tried to call her back she wouldn't pick up. I don't know what happened." He said barely a whisper at the end.
"I'm so sorry, Devin." I said placing my hand on his thigh and giving it a reassuring squeeze.
He removed his hands from his face and looked at me tenderly.
"Thank you." He said with a warm smile. Then placing his hand on my cheek and tracing circles with his thumb gently.
I stared into his eyes for what felt like forever, having to resist the urge to kiss him. His eyes looked deep into mine, penetrating my soul and sending butterflies through my stumick.
He tucked a stand of my hair behind my ear and slowly removed his hand. And my face missed the warmth.
"So..." I said breaking the silence
"Yeah?" He asked still looking into my eyes.
"Is that why you were trying to fix my lights? You know to get your mind off of it." I asked and he nodded slightly.

"Well... you're welcome to fix anything you want." I said patting his leg and standing up. I had to get his eyes off of mine before I lost it.
"I don't know. I think your house is against me." He said with a chuckle.

"Well do you blame it? You come over and the first thing you want to do is change things that you see as broken." I said smirking.
"What? I was only trying to help. No need to get offended." He pouted playfully
"It must be a girl." He smirked and then chuckled. I scoffed and walked over to hit him and he winced at the idea of that.
"Would you hurt an injured man?" He pouted.
"Ugh. You're impossible." I laughed.
------------

"Well I'll see you in the morning at church right?" I asked as he opened the door to his car.
"You bet." He said sliding into the drivers seat.
"Okay. I'll see you then." I said closing the car door. And he pulled out waving before driving off.
I smiled and waved back before turning to go back inside.

I walked back in the door hating the silence that now engulfed the house. I sighed and closed the door behind me.
