~Devin's POV~
I looked down at her as she lay asleep in my arms. Her hair draped over her shoulder, and every strand of hair seemed to fall perfectly. I couldn't see her eyes since they were closed but I've seen every fleck of gold and brown in them for years, I have them memorized.
We were still on the couch, she had fallen asleep after all her crying. It broke my heart to see her so saddened. But I understand why. I still feel the hurt from the loss of my grandmother. I can't begin to imagine the pain of losing your parents.
The sun had begun to set a little while ago, but I couldn't bring myself to wake her up. I know she almost never can sleep so why not let her right now? And I enjoyed her being here like this, in my arms.
I could feel her heart beating in time with mine. And my hand gently stroked through her beautiful brown hair.
"What am I thinking?" I asked myself mentally. "She is my friend. My best friend." I reminded myself. As I flicked my eyes off of her and over to the Windows.
"Stop it now Devin." I mentally scolded myself. Feeling almost anger with myself for the way I was acting.
"It's not right. She is my friend, and I won't do anything that could ruin that or hurt her." I told myself firmly.
"She is more important to me then the world. And I won't do anything that could in anyway possible jeopardize the friendship that We share. I'd die first." I said to myself as a final word on the subject.A soft moan came from her lips drawing my attention back down to her head, that lay on my chest softly.
I ran my hand through her hair again and her eyes slowly opened.
"What time is it?" She asked as she yawned into my chest.
"6:20 pm" I said and she bolted up.
"What? I missed evening service didn't I?" She asked and I nodding in response
"That's okay. You needed the sleep." I told her trying to make her feel less terrible.
"Did I fall asleep or something?" She asked and I nodded.
"Thanks for staying with me." She said as she got up from the couch and stretched.
"Hey, what are friends for." I said with a smile.
"Well I've been told their here to listen and to share in your life. But I think their here to get punched in the stumick every once and a while." She joked.
"Oh! I haven't gotten you back for that yet, have I?" I said realizing I hadn't
"Umm... nope." She said smiling nervesly.
I jumped to my feet and she ran off for the kitchen. I quickly chased behind as we circled the kitchen island and went back into the living room. She headed for the door, flinging it open and running out into the yard with me close behind her.
My arms snaked around her waist as I caught up and my hands linked with each other, locking her in my grip. I dropped myself to the ground bringing her with me as she squealed. I flipped us over to were I was on top and then began to tickle her."Stop." She squealed through floods of laughter.
"Tell me I won." I said as I continued to tickle the living daylights out of her.
She squirmed around on the ground laughing and trying to get free.
"I won't tell you unless you stop." She said trying to catch her breath.
"Nope, tell me now." I laughed and tickled all the more.
"Fine! You won, you're the winner." She squealed and I released her and stood up.
"Thank you." I said smirking and then stretching an arm out to help her up."
"You're an evil man." She said taking my hand and I pulled her up.
"Mwahahaha!" I laughed sinisterly. And she rolled her eyes at me.
-------------"I best be leaving." I said wishing I didn't have too. But I have work in the morning and I can't just stay here all night.
"Okay. Wait do you want something for dinner first?" She asked and I smiled.
"Ummm. You know what sure." I said smiling at the idea.
"Well I didn't make it shopping yesterday so I don't have any food.""Out for dinner? Or take out and Netflix? I asked.
"The second one sounds nice. But what about take out and video games?" She asked raising an eyebrow.
Video games with Stacey? Sound great to me.
"Sounds great. I'm going to beat you as usual." I smirked.
"Oh I have some tricks up my sleeve this time buddy." She said poking her tongue at me.
"Have you been talking to Bryan about tricks to get me down?" I asked furrowing my eyes at her.
"I don't have a clue what you're talking about." She said as she turned to go back inside since we were both still out here from the tickle fight. Man she can be such a terrible liar. I laughed to myself.I pulled out my phone and called Bryan real quick. Bryan and I are good friends although he is 5 years older then me. But with all the time Stacey and I spent together over the last 10 years it would be silly not to get along with him so well.
"Hey man, sup?" I heard a deep voice say through the phone.
"Hey, it's been awhile." I said with a small chuckle.
"What's going on with my sister to make you call this time?" He laughed and so did I.
"Well she tried to kill me by sicking some tubs on me yesterday." I joked and he chuckled.
"Oh did she send you into the garage of death?" He laughed.
"Well yeah. I wish I had known it was a garage of death at the time, that would've helped a little." I joked"Seriously how's everything?" He asked his voice lowered.
"It seems to be okay. I fixed her porch light since it went out." I said and I heard a small chuckle.
"And what about you?" He asked
"Oh I'm doing pretty good." I lied.
"Uhuh, how's everything with jackie?"
He asked and I sighed at the fact that I had to answer.
"Oh not to well seeing as it's over." I said seeming kinda frustrated.
"Okay enough said." He said and I sighed in relief.
"Bryan, I called because I wanted to know if you've been feeding tips to Stacey on video games?" I ask and he started laughing.
"Yes, why has she been kicking your butt?" He asked through the phone."No we haven't started yet. But dude, how could you do that to me?" I asked with a laugh.
"Well I can't let my little sister continue to lose to you. It's embarrassing." He laughed.
"Great, now I'm gonna have to put in extra effort." I said
"That's not a bad thing. Suck it up butter cup." He said before hanging up.
"Well that was rude. Just cutting off like that." I chuckle before heading back inside.
