**Maura's POV**
I turn over in my cot, the sun hitting my face. I sit up, remembering where I am. I decide not to wake Percy up, do I just get up and get dressed quickly. I slip on my Camp Half Blood shirt, and I'm ready to go.
I decide to walk towards the dining hall. No one else is up, just me. I think that until Chiron crosses my path.
He glances at me and says, "Maura, I need to speak with you very briefly."
Afraid I am in trouble, I obey and start to walk along side him. He is too fast for me, trotting along much faster than I can run. He swings me into his back effortlessly. I am afraid to grab onto anything because, uh, I don't know if he is sensitive or if there are any horse parts I shouldn't touch.
He takes me to the Big House. Chiron lifts me off of his back and we go inside.
"Goodmorning, sir." I say to Mr. D, the camp director.
"Ah, Mary." He replies.
"It's Maura, sir."
"Whatever." Then he mumbles something about stupid heroes and the camp.
"Maura," Chiron starts. "I have something for you." He reaches into his saddle bag and pulls out a pen. He hands it to me.
"Uh, thanks, Chiron, I'll, um, write to my mom with this.." A pen really?
He chuckles. "Oh, child this isn't a pen."
"Looks like one to me."
"Uncap it."
I take the cap off and a bronze sword comes shooting out. I am not longer holding a pen. I am holding a sword.
"Epic.." I mumble, the sword's sparkling blade reflecting in my eyes. "Percy has one just like it."
"Yes, and there is a reason for that."
"What, Chiron?"
"It is from your father."
"My father? You mean Lord Poseidon?"
"Yes, dear. It is a gift from your father."
I stick the cap on the edge of the blade, and it turns back into a pen.
"What of I lose it? Will Dad be mad?" I ask. What wrath would Lord Poseidon leave soon me if I do lose it?
"You can't lose it, child. Throw it across the room."
I do, and about 5 seconds later, it appears back in my pocket. Amazing.
"Off you go, it's time for breakfast." Chiron says while motioning me out the door.
I take my seat at the Poseidon table across from Percy.
"Hey, Perc." I say. "Look what Chiron gave me."
His head perks up, as I take out the own and start to uncap it. When the cap is of, the giant blade glints in the sunlight. Everyone else seems to interested in their food to noticed holding a giant bronze sword.
"Neat." He says. "Did you get it from Dad?"
"Yep. Chiron said so."
We eat the rest of our breakfast. It is deep in conversation about the different kinds of monster's, Thalia and the tree, and many other things.
When breakfast is over. I meet up with Annabeth, Grover, Percy, and Thalia. Then we split up and head to our cabins. I walk up to the pier.
I kneel down, my skin touching the damp wooden pier.
"Hey Dad," I say. "I know you don't respond, but thanks for this." I take out the pen. "It might save my life sometime. And I also want to say that I, uh.." I pause. "I love you. I don't know you very well, but thanks. Thanks Dad."
And with that, I walk back to my cabin.
