Daughter of Poseidon

Chapter 7

**Maura's POV**

The next morning I lay on my bed, staring at the wooden ceiling of the Poseidon cabin. I get up finally, and play around with the small fountain in the corner.

"I guess you like it? Dad gave it to me." Percy asks, rubbing his eyes.

"Yeah," I answer. "It's kind of peaceful."

The breakfast bell rings just then, and it is the start of new day.

I take my seat at the Poseidon table and turn to wave to Annabeth. Chiron gets everyone's attention by stomping his foot.

"Today I am here to make a special announcement of a quest."

I see Percy's fists tighten on the table. What does he know? Is this the quest I heard Chiron and Mr. D talk about that night I was picking strawberries?

"The quest is to fight and defeat the mighty Hades."

What was Hades up to now? Didn't Chiron know no one could defeat a god?

The room was silent as everyone looked at each other, nervous if they would be chosen to go on this impossible quest.

"The following will be sent." A long pause- "Kay, Daughter of Athena; Gracie, Daughter of Athena; Chloe, Daughter of Apollo; and the quest will be led by Maura, Daughter of Poseidon." Chiron looked at the ground. "The quest to the underworld begins in two days." And with that, he trotted away.

Now I know why Percy looked nervous. And I had at least three days until I was dead.
