  Three years later.

I am sixteen and I hate every second of it. I mean its my last year of highschool and I have no family to come support me at my graduation. And to make matters worse people are now starting to question the fact that my family never comes to events or how I always have black circles under my eyes from working long hard nights, and completing my homework and when people start to see the situation, questions are asked and answers must be given.

Sighing I brushed my black hair from my eyes as I began to close shop at the store I had been working at for three years. Suddenly the bell rang signaling a customer.

"Sorry, I am about to close. Can you please come back tomorrow?" I mumbled keeping my eyes down as I continued to look for the shop keys.

"Actually I am here to apply for the opening as a employee," a deep but soothing voice replied making me look up in surprise.

In front of me stood the hottest guy I had ever seen. Don't get me wrong, there a lot of cute guys, but none of them made my heart pound as much as he did just by standing there, so what did I do I looked away.

"Candy who is here? Who ever it is sell to them and send them on their way!" Marty, my boss screamed at me.

Keeping my head down I motioned for him to follow me to the back of the store. Without speaking I motioned towards my bosses office, and with that I turned away and walked quickly to the front of the store.

"Thank you," he whispered quietly as I walked away.

Unfortunately since he, whatever his name was, was here, I couldn't leave until he left, so I waited and I waited.

Half hour later Marty walks out of his office beaming at me. I narrowed my eyes suspiciously, already at the conclusion that Marty hired him and feeling frustrated that he didn't bother to ask me. I mean, I am the one who does pretty much everything for this shop and the least he could have done was talk to me first about hiring him. Especially after what happened with the last employee. She was a crazy girl with long brown hair and mischievous brown eyes and every day since she started to work here (before she got fired), items would go missing and Marty, being himself, thought I was the culprit and had fired me instead. Luckily once I was gone everything got cleared up.

"Candy, meet your new partner Caleb. Caleb, this is Candy," he said excitedly while leaving the store, as usual, leaving me to lock up.

I sighed frustrated by the sudden turn of events. It wasn't like I was opposed to having help, it just means I have to communicate with him and that was the last thing that I felt like doing.

"I can't wait to start working with you!" Caleb said giving me the biggest smile ever.

His smile unnerved me and I didn't respond to his enthusiasm, it had been a long day and I wasn't in the mood for this. Never looking up and never speaking, I ushered him out of the store where I then fumbled with the keys as I tried to lock the door, but much to my embarrassment I dropped the dang keys.

With my hands shaking, I bent down to pick the keys up at the same time that he did, creating a big bang as our heads collided. Snatching the keys I quickly locked up and began to walk, ok more like began to run, towards home. Without looking back I went to my apartment and threw my work bag on the ground by the big dark green door.

Although I had homework, I couldn't help but day dream as I sat at my little round table with a pencil in my hand.

I hadn't looked at him completely but just hearing his voice made my heart pound uncontrollably making me feel sick at how easy I let him get to me. He had a strong build and although all I saw were his bright green eyes, I knew he had a cute face. Feeling flustered I quickly banished him from my head and focused on my speech homework.

Hours later I finished and stumbled to bed feeling a major headache from staring at the paper with a blank mind. Listening to the peace and quiet, I slowly drifted off to sleep.\

  THUMP!

I awoke to the sound of something slamming shut. Wide awake I listened for more sounds and only heard some big footsteps going down the stairs of the apartment. Fearing I  was discovered I held completely still, and quiet.

Somebody was here and I needed to find out who, but first some rest. Falling back to sleep, I dreamt a dream, something I hadn't done since I walked out of my foster home.
