SBC Lobby Event [05252017]

Hello SBC-ians,

Malapit na ang pasukan, tag-ulan na rin, nag-martial law na sa MIndanao, pero hindi pa rin tayo papaawat sa ating mga pakulo at pagbabasa.

Nadiscuss na natin ito before ng mga SBCians(as in long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, as in very far talaga.)  Pero uulitin natin para marecall din natin lahat kung ano ang mga iba't-ibang uri ng paraan ng pagbabasa.

Different Reading Types and Techniques

Skimming

To read quickly and superficially, in order to pick up the important or significant details. You can reach a speed count of even 700 words per minute if you train yourself well in this particular method. Comprehension is of course very low and understanding of overall content very superficial.

1. Scanning

Scanning involves getting your eyes to quickly scuttle across sentence and is used to get just a simple piece of information.

(realtalk > mas may napupulot sa detail dito compared sa skim reading, ito usually kapag bet mo yun genre kaso di mo gaano bet yun story, or medyo limited time ka lang at the moment magbasa pero gusto mo naman yun story.)

2. Intensive Reading

Remember this is going to be far more time consuming than scanning or skimming. When students do this, they undertake neither type of reading process effectively, especially neglecting intensive reading. They may remember the answers in an exam but will likely forget everything soon afterwards.

(realtalk > ito ang nangyayari lagi after ng pairings ng bookclub, nakalimutan mo na rin yun story, pero may nareretain naman lalo yun mga important details lalo sa cast at about ng story, pero ito yun pinakacommon at katanggap-tanggap na uri ng pagbabasa kung sasali sa mga pairing ng mga bookclubs.)

3. Extensive reading

Extensive reading involves reading for pleasure. If the text is difficult and you stop every few minutes to figure out what is being said or to look up new words in the dictionary, you are breaking your concentration and diverting your thoughts.

(realtalk > ganito dapat magbasa ng story kahit hindi pa ito dahil sa isang pairing ng isang book club.)

Para sa mini-activity natin, muli natin ibabalik ang pagfe-feature ng stories ng mga SBCians.

- Magkakaroon ng 2-3 featured story every Lobby Event. Ang task ng mga SBC members ay bisitahin at basahin ang mapipiling featured story.

- Kahit Scan or Skim Reading OK lang, (better kung magagawang Intensive or Extensive)

- Reactions and Criticism is optional din, di kayo obligadong maglagay nito, mas gusto namin na enjoyin nyo yun pagbabasa ng featured story kesa ma-pressure sa isusulat sa comment.

- Walang required number of chapters to read, walang required number of votes. read as much, vote as much, kung hanggang saan lang yun magagawa nyo.

-Pero para malaman naman ng author ng featured story na binisita or binasa nyo yun gawa nila, magcomment ng SBC sa kahit saang mababasa nyong chapter. ISA lang ang kailangan per featured story, hindi every chapter. walang hashtag # sign.

Comment Done FS @name-ni-author kung tapos na sa task na ito.

Paano ang proceso ng pagpili ng weekly featured story - ito ay pagpupulungan at pagkakasunduan ng mga SBC Admins. Pero tanging mga SBC Members na nakasali na ng at least 3 pairings ang maaaring mapili.

Para sa unang batch ng Featured Stories natin. Ipapangtest-run natin ang mga stories ng SBC Admins.

Kung sakaling nabasa nyo na ito dati sa pairing or basta nabasa nyo lang, magcomment pa rin kayo ng SBC sa kahit anong chapter(kahit random pick) para sa featured story task.
