The morning dawned bright and sunny.
Eden yawned and sat up.Her long brown hair stuck up so she quickly got a brush and put her hair into a milkmaid bun.Noticing Delly was also awake she indicated they get dressed.Delly nodded and put her book down.
"Special clothes today remember Eden!"
She nodded excitedly.
Five minutes later they were in the rehearsal room.
"Do we need costumes?"
"I don't think they'll be nessecery."
The girls looked up to see Mrs Carraway standing in the audience.
"Girls,Do you know where Red is?His family is supposed to be coming soon!"
Delly and Eden looked at each other. They shook their heads.
"Sorry,Aunt Caroline.Eden, why don't we go out and meet our parents?"
Eden nodded and they ran out together to greet the cars coming up the drive. As Delly spun around, trying to find her parents she spotted Red.He waved her over.Grabbing Eden who's parents hadn't arrived yet they hurried over to him.
"Girls, meet my family!"Red greeted them with a tight smile. Both girls stood either side of him, very much aware of the meaning behind the smile.
"Dylan,who would these girls be?"
Red gulped.
"Where are your friends?Where are your footie mates?"
The tall man who had bulging muscles asked Red loudly.
Luckily for Red the blonde lady cut in.
"Honey,we didn't come to watch football we came to see him and his friends.Right Dil?"
Red winced at the nickname.
"Actually, sir,he likes to be called Red."Delly butted in.
"Because of what he used to wear!"Eden smiled warily.
The man turned to the girls.
"Who might you be?"
"Were your sons best friends.I'm Delphine Carraway and this is Eden Jonas."
Delly said the words casually but her heart was thudding and her mouth grew dry.Meanwhile, The tall mans face started to get redder and redder.Noticing the signs his wife started to try calming him down.
"Now,John if he's happy....."
"I PAY GOOD MONEY FOR THIS SCHOOL!AND YOU SPEND YOUR TIME WITH GIRLS?WHY CANT YOU BE NORMAL?"
"Dad,I'm sorry but these are my friends.I do have boy friends but these girls are the best at drama!"
Then seeing his father raise his hand for a strike he blurted out
"Dad,what will the other kids say?"
Unfortunetly it didn't make the man any less angry.
As the hand came down Delly shoved Red out of the way.The blow took her to the floor.
"Have a good year son. Were leaving."
They spun on their heels and walked away.Red kept back the tears until his dad was gone.
