The rest of the week was  an odd mix of slow and fast. Sometimes it felt like the minutes took three centuries to pass and other times an hour long class would seem to take 30 seconds. I spent a lot of time with the kids from robotics and Kailee. Calypso and I hardly talked, she did tell me about making the cheer team and kept reminding me to go to the party. I still hadn't finished her bathroom, mostly because I was trying hard to avoid Chris. Who spent most afternoons with her. We got along worse and worse, So I built a wall down the middle of the room. I managed making my own small bathroom on my side that connected to his plumbing. We hardly talked and when we did it was usually a message from Calypso or Kailee. It was all very very tolerable, and I think that's what was driving me mad. Everything was just pretty okay. And it was so boring. But when Friday finally came I settled on going to the party, that on Monday I had promised myself I wouldn't go too. I was with Chris and Calypso, in Chris's car. They were talking and laughing and I sat in the back seat like the third wheel I was born to be.

“We're here.” Chris announced and we piled out of the car into the huge hotel parking lot. I could feel the bass in my chest, the song was unfamiliar. The pool was full of kids in bathing suits and an assortment of other underclothes. It seemed everyone had a red cup in their hand. There were kids making out, flirting, singing, and even a group sitting in chairs holding each others hands, eyes closed. I smiled, I had never been invited to a party like this. I looked back at Calypso, she was smiling up at Chris, and his arm was around her waist. My smile melted. I was exploring the pool area, two boys had run up to me and shoved one of the red cups in my hand screaming, I sipped the bitter liquid. I walked around for a while talking to the few people I knew.

“Leo!” I heard a girl shouting my name. “Leo!” Kailee ran up to me, and swooned lightly against my arm. She brought her face up to my ear. “I am so drunk, Leo.” I was taken aback. “Do you want to go play truth or dare upstairs, I got a bunch of people too.” Her words were all slurred together.

“Ugh yeah, sure lets go.” I grabbed her arm and let her lead me to a room, there were a group of teens scattered in a misshaped circle around the room. Chris and Calypso sat next to each other. Chris's eyes had the glazed over look of a drunk.

“Leeeooo.” He drug my name out and patted the space next to him, and threw an arm over Calypso's shoulder. I led Kailee over and she sat, half next to me half on top of me.

“Alrighty let's start.” He was blonde and didn't look as drunk as most of the kids. I could feel a small buzz in the front of my head. “I go first.” He dared a blonde girl to kiss him. She did giggling. The truth or dare started going around the room, we all laughed and I drank more beer. I watched Calypso and Chris drink more too, they laughed a lot and seemed closer to each other every time I looked at them.

When it finally got to Chris, we laughed as he tried shoving as many marshmallows in his mouth and he failed at 6. He spit them all in a used beer cup.

“Valdez, looks like Kailee likes you,” Chris laughed, and Kailee nuzzled in my shoulder. “So truth or dare.” I didn't want to pick dare, I was terrified of what Chris would make me do. But I wasn't going to seem scared.

“Dare.”

“I dare you to kiss whichever girl here you think is the most beautiful.” He started laughing wildly, he said something else but it was impossible to know what it was. Kailee sat up and faced me, she kept her eyes closed and smiled softly. I looked at her face for a second. Her skin was flawless and she full red lips. I knew Chris wanted me to kiss her but I couldn't. I turned away and pressed my lips to Calypso's. They only sat there a second before she pulled away and pushed me by my chest. She stood and strode out.

“Good job man,” Chris said angrily, lightly punching my arm. “You scared her away with your grossness.” The alcohol was now flowing freely through me and I was ready to burst. I felt the tingling move its way up my arm and tried with all the cognitive function I had left not to catch on fire. I clenched my fist and let my nails dig into the skin of my palm. My heart rate was through the roof, I was breathing heavily, and my foot was tapping wildly on the carpet.
