"So-" I gasped still in utter shock.
"Yup," Hades breathed in reply watching me carefully.
"Really?"
"Yup." I swallowed hard nodding slowly still wrapping my head around everything I had seen so far; fire, darkness, cold, fear, shadows. I watched him as he controlled them, manipulated them to his will. He was terrifying, as he should be, but I was not scared of him anymore. I knew the difference between the truth and the mythology now. I wasn't lost in the whirlwind anymore, I was steady and he was my safe harbor.
"You okay?" Hades asked after a moment. I nodded taking a sip from my water. We were in the kitchen, sitting on the stool trying to wrap my head around everything.
"Now would probably be a bad time to mention i can control dreams as well."
"Oh, just- just awesome," I breathed. I finished off my water and looked at him. "Are you serious?"
"As Death." I looked at him with a raised eye brow. "Sorry couldn't resist."
"Okay," i breathed. I checked my phone and saw the time. "I promised Alyx a girls night tonight so I will be out of reach for the night, but I will attempt to wrap my head around all of this."
Hades chuckled and nodded rubbing his jaw. "Shave for tomorrow's date or leave it?" I ran my hand over his chin.
"Leave it," I smiled, "Looks good."
"Let's get you home." I stood up and took his hands in mine. He pulled me close to him and I felt that familiar feeling. It didn't scare me anymore, only made me even more excited. It meant I was with him, it meant I was safe.
When I opened my eyes I was alone, outside my apartment door. I had a hope that he would be here but I knew he couldn't be. I picked up my bag from the floor and slipped inside. Alyx was sitting on the couch with Rory in her arms asleep. I waved at her and pointed to my room. She nodded with a smile and I made my way in there. I dropped my bag on the bed and moved to the bathroom for a shower.
I showered quickly and got dressed again not paying much attention to my reflection as I moved. I saw my phone was blinking and picked it up. It was from Hades, 'Watch the marks, she may learn our secret ;)'
I smiled a little, 'She picked that up a while ago, cats out of the bag now.' I dropped my phone onto the bed and moved back into the living room.
Rory was gone and Alyx was pouring us wine. She handed me mine as we took to our seats on the couch. We propped our legs up on the table and clicked on the TV letting it play whatever we had left it on last.
"Wow," Alyx smiled sipping her wine. "Hell of a week huh?"
I laughed a bit shaking my head. "That would be the understatement of the century," I smiled.
She turned and faced me smirking. "Tell me everything, do not skip any details." I laughed at her but I went on my spiel of what happened. I told her basically everything leaving out the whole "god" thing of course.
"You know you are insane right?" Alyx laughed after the story. It was late in the evening now and we were a few glasses deep at this point. "Doing that was insane?"
"Everything I do is insane," I laughed, "It always has been but this is still new to me too." I rubbed my neck gently leaning back. "God I can't even believe this myself."
"Those marks are real enough." Alyx poked my neck smiling and I laughed leaning away from her. "Jeez look at us, we've finally got our shit together."
