Mia's POV
As I'm running from the horrid house I have to call home I think of Harry, he's something else. I've never met anyone as pushy as he is, yet I know nothing about him. Oh no I've told him too much, what will Dad think. Who cares he doesn't care about me anyways. Harry cares, he probably the only one in a long time I've gotten so much weight off my shoulders. He cares right?
I get to a place down the road, I hope no one sees me and close my eyes and set my mind to the spot I want to appear. My feet tingle for a moment then I open my eyes and see the peak of the mountain I always go to. I sit next to the usual tree and let my mind wonder about the last couple of days.
It started out so shitty, getting a lecture from my mother why I need to stay upstairs during the gathering, she doesn't want anyone to put thoughts in my 'fathers' head. I don't see how he doesn't know I'm not his, Lydia doesn't seem to forget to remind me every day not to be in the same building as her in public, she doesn't want anyone to know I'm her sister or better yet live under the same roof as the freak.
'Hey freak cast any spells lately?' Jared's voice rung in my ear all day, I do wish I could cast a spell to make him a freak. Freak. I hate that word. No one is a freak they're just...unique.
"Unique? That's a new way to put it." I jump at his voice, I watch as he sits next to me on the edge of the mountain with his feet dangling with mine. I lean against his shoulder and look at the ocean off the coast of Maine.
"How's your mother?" his voice pulls me from my focus.
"Same as always, shops for useless things and reminds me not pull any attention to myself around her." I roll my eyes and sit up. "I don't mind it anyways, I rather not be around those rich as-,"
"Mia." My father warns and sighs, "She is still your mother, she may not be the best but without her I wouldn't have a beautiful caster daughter like you." He pokes at my side and I can't help but smile.
"If you're so proud of me then why didn't you come back for me?" I ask him that question for the thousandth time.
"You know why. It's not safe in Gailbrum." Gailbrum is like the North Pole. You know where 'Santa' lives and no one can seem to find his town. Well that's just how Gailbrum is, it's like the north pole. Harry would love it there.
"Who's Harry?" he turns to me and his eyes flash, I push away from him.
"What did I tell you about looking in my mind? You shouldn't use your powers against me, I don't look in yours." Because I can't figure out how... yet. I look down and pick at my fingers. I can already tell what he sees. All I have in my mind is Harry, his eyes, his weird fluffy hair and the way he looks at me. The way he took the news like it was nothing.
"You told a mortal!" He stands and pulls me up with him.
"He found out himself, dad he can see my eyes." His face changes and he looks out to the water. He stays silent for a while but shakes his head.
"You know what happens when a mortal and a caster fall in lov-,"
"Stop, I don't want love. He listens and he's the only one I've found that can see the blue." As I finish my sentence I see the designs light on his arm.
"Gailbrum needs its leader, you shouldn't keep them waiting." I sit back down and let the ocean air run through my nose. I hear him sigh and feel him kiss the top of my head.
"Just be careful with that boy, I don't want to have to clean up any of your messes." I see his vibrant black hair flow with the slight wind. "I love you Miabella." He's the only one that uses my whole name.
