Chapter 14: Circles and circles

"Harry c'mon! I'm not getting any younger!" Mia shouts from half way down the beach. I set down my phone ending the long. I run after Mia and she smiles as she runs from me. She clashes in the water and I finally catch her in my arms. It's down to the last 2 days in beautiful sunny California and I and Mia are living it up. After Mia had her powers fully taken away we tried to spend every minute distracting her from them. This whole week we've visited Disney Land twice, practically bought a whole new wardrobe which we had to get more suit cases for. We've walked the board walk everyday and ate at different places we've never eaten at every day.

I spin her in her arms and she kicks her feet out splashing water. I set her down and she swims out to the water and I lightly pinch her skin and she squeals. She stands and turns so her back is pressed to my front. I wrap my arms around her waist and stand in the lukewarm water watching the sun turn the sky red and orange.

"I'm going to miss this." Mia says and lays her head back on my chest. "I can't believe I'm saying this but I can't wait for college. You should have heard the dean when I called and said I'd be attending their school. I think he nearly had a heart attack." She says with humor but so calm.

"I'm glad we'll be staying in dorms right out off of campus."

"I was surprised how fast George found 2 buildings so close to each other." I shrug and kiss the top of her shoulder.

"My mother is pretty excited too, she won't have to deal with my laundry 24/7 just when I come and visit." I feel her stomach shake as she lightly laughs.

"I'm for sure going to miss this." She turns and kisses me softly and it escalates from there.

"If you didn't mean it why did you say it!" going in circles and circles for the 3rd time this week.

"Well you know what than your right. Why did I say it? It was a mistake okay." I yell back at her and I only say the wrong thing.

"Oh so we're a mistake? You telling me you loved me was a mistake? I disobeying my father and making him punishing me for it was a mistake? Maybe I should have stayed away from you long enough so you could just drop me like the other fucking people in my life? Why do you even stick around?" she screams back and the hot air makes the sweat soak our clothes.

"For the money." Shit

"What?" she didn't hear me.

"I don't know!" I yell back at her.

"May be we need a break." She storms out of her room and leaves me to punch my fist into the pillow. Seconds later the door opens again and George is flustered and angry.

"Are you fucking kidding me? You're lucky she didn't hear you and I'm the only one who's home."

"Back away." I I can smell the coffee and bad breath being spat in my face.

"Boy you only have 6 more months till Christmas and your 50 thousand dollars in the deal you are not backing out of this now. Go out there and make up with her before one call and your mom and you are packing your bags with a no job and money." He threats and I push past him.

I head straight to the back where she always goes after a fight. The June heat is not kind today. "Mia." She looks away from me."Mia c'mon I'm sorry. I'm just tired and with mum on my case about the university. I'm stressed Mia." I push on.

"You don't think I am? I don't have the ability to stop time and remove myself when I'm stressed and need a breather. I can't go back to that spot on the cliff anymore and get back to myself. I'm scared Harry and I can't do anything about it now." She starts to pace.
