Mia's POV
"Batten Disease is a fatal, inherited disorder of the nervous system that begins in childhood." I sit in a lecture for the 3rd time today. My stomach growls and I now regret not taking that lunch offer with Chloe. My phone vibrates and I awkwardly ignore it. I write as much as I hear coming from the professor.
"...the first sign of the disease is often loss of vision, and may first be suspected during an eye examination." Today is the last day of lecture till we're off for 3 weeks for Christmas and New Years. I can't wait to go home, I've missed Lydia believe it or not. We got so close we call each other every other week to catch up. Mom gave her the internship at her fashion magazine.
Everyone has big news this holiday. Mom called and hoped I could make it so she could tell us the news. Lydia has some news of her own and Ms. Styles said she had a gift special gift for me. The car is pact with everyone's gifts and our bags. Harry and I have been distant lately but it's just our busy schedules. Right?
We make plans here and there but I feel like I haven't kissed Harry in months. He rushes goodbyes and chats but Dave said he's been okay, staying in and working. I'm surprised he even agreed to go home in the same car. But I know he'll love me more than ever once I give him his gift. My purity.
I walk to Harry's dorm and patiently wait in the hall before Dave opens the door. He's pulling on his shirt and I see Harry's passed out body on the bed. I press my index finger to my lips and I tiptoe to his bed and slowly climb on top of his back.
"Harry." I whisper in his ear and kiss the side of his face. Dave leaves the room and I plug Harry's nose and he gasp for air. I laugh and he wants to be mad but it disappears when he sees me.
"You know I could have kept my mouth shut and died." I stand on the bed as he turns over and I sit back down.
"Well at least I won't have to put up with your horrible morning breath." He smiles and blows his actually minty breath on me. "We have to leave in an hour." He groans and pulls the pillow over his head. His phone rings and I lean over to answer it but he pulls it out of my hand and dismisses it. "Why don't you answer the phone when you're around me? I've never seen you on the phone." He sits up and ignores my question. He starts to get dressed and Dave comes back in but this time he's not alone.
"Guys this is my girlfriend. This is my roommate Harry and his annoying girlfriend Mia." He laughs and I chuck the pillow at him. "I'm kidding she's kind of awesome." I dramatically flip my hair and laugh.
"Hi nice to meet you I'm Allison Brie." We shake hands and I wait for Harry to finish getting ready.
Dave made plans to stay on campus with his girlfriend since he'll have the room to himself. Harry finally makes it back from the bathroom and we head out. Ten minutes into the car ride Harry is back asleep and I'm left with just the radio. I look over to him every few minutes but he's quiet.
I stop at the next gas station for cheep coffee and breakfast. I lock the car door as Harry sleeps and walk into the empty store. The lights flicker just as I step in, the doors lock and I panic. The woman at the counter doesn't move. I'm lifted from the floor and I fly to the end of the store. I cry out in pain and couch up the blood from my probably broken body.
"Mia stand up." I look up and the air is gone. His long jacket and suit is the same, his hair the beard nothing's changed. "Mia stand up now." Before I can he makes me and I'm in the air with his grip constricting my breath. "You managed to persuade me otherwise." I cough as I try to breathe. "Merry Christmas you're going to need these." He presses his other hand to my heart and I feel the cold rush of my blood freezing and the same lightning feeling shooting in my body.
