"Wake up hun or you'll be late for school." My mom yelled from downstairs.
"Why do I have to go to school, If today's my last day there." I yelled back, stretching as I got up from bed.
"Because today is the last day to say goodbye to your friends. You also have to turn in your textbooks. So get dressed and come downstairs. I'll make you breakfast before we leave." She replied.
"Okay, I'm coming. Only because I don't want to pay for the textbooks." I smiled and let out a small laugh.
So today is my last day at my school in Ohio. My mom found a new job in California. I wish we didn't have to move in the middle of the school year. I really wish we didn't have to move at all. I took a quick shower, brushed my teeth, and got dressed. I threw on a black t-shirt and a pair of grey joggers. I grabbed my backpack and slid on my black slides. Before I went downstairs, I petted my dog spot on his head.
"Okay boy, I'll be home soon. Enjoy your day." I patted him on the head.
I walked downstairs to see my mom putting two plates on the table.
"What's for breakfast?" I asked, opening the fridge to grab some orange juice.
"Pancakes, bacon, and eggs with a side of toast." She said, putting the food on the plates.
"Sound's delightful." I gave her a smile to show my thanks.
"Grab us glasses for the orange juice. I'm almost done fixing the plates. " She put the last bit of pancakes onto a plate.
I put the orange juice on the table and grabbed us two glasses. I poured the orange juice for me and my mom. And then sat down at the table and my mom put my plate in front of me. As we ate our breakfast, it was silent for a while, and my mom finally spoke.
"Honey, I just want to say thank you for being so understanding about everything." She said, placing her hand on mine.
"You're welcome, ma." I faked a smile, she seen though it but stayed quiet.
When we finished, I cleared the table and washed a few dishes.
"I'll drive you to school."
We got into the car. The ride to school was silent. We arrived at the school, which felt like seconds.
"Okay ma, thanks for the ride. And thanks for breakfast. It was great."
"You're welcome, honey." She gave me a hug before I stepped out of the car.
"I love you, mom. See you later." I grabbed my bag and closed the car door.
"I love you too." She smiled before driving off.
I watched as my mom drove off before walking inside the school. I walked to my locker when I got inside the school. I reached my locker and there was someone waiting for me.
I wasn't surprised to see my best friend Emily."It's about time. You had me waiting for a while." She said, wrapping her arms around me.
"Yeah, sorry about that." I hugged her back.
Emily and I have been friends since we were five years old. The first period bell rung. Everyone started filling the hallway going to class. I put my books in my locker.
"I have to get going. You know how Ms. Mac gets." I said, closing my locker.
"Okay, we can talk later during lunch, And be nice to her. " She smirked and walked away.
I watched her walk off for a while before walking to class. I walked inside the classroom. And sat next to my friend Trey.
"What's up, man?" I said, holding my fist out for a bump.
"What's up, bro?" He said, connecting his fist with mine.
"Quiet class." Ms. Mac said, walking inside the classroom.
The late bell rang, and class began.
It hasn't been ten minutes, and I've already begun to fall asleep."I can't believe today is the last day you're here, man." Trey said with a bitter tone.
"Me either man hopefully we'll come back some day." I responded.
"Troy and Trey, is their something you'd like to discuss in front of the class?" Ms. Mac stood up and asked in a frustrated tone.
